    Looks like a cafe

Yes, definitely a Rickman Metisse. PLEASE get rid of that Yamaha back wheel as well. These bikes are soaring in value when put back to original, and we still see them used on the track in anger here in New Zealand. +1 with putting a T120 or even a T140 motor in it. It'll make a cool cafe racer...

    FZR750 Cafe Racer

It's been a long time since I've been on here and life as we know it has changed quite a bit, new house in a new area and new business keeping me busy 7 days a week, but...life is good 8) The poor old FZR has been put out to pasture for a year or so as my buggered back couldn't take riding it...

Norton / Harley Ironhead Cafe Project.. Build thread

Brake bleeding can be a real pain in the a$$ sometime, for no good apparent reason. I’ve come up against the same problem, and came up with the following method for a quick; cost effective way to get them sorted. Let me just say that bleeding brakes is not one of my favourite jobs and over...

    FZR750 Cafe Racer

Been quite a few months since I've posted progress on the bike, but there has been some. Following a 250km shake down ride in January there were a few things that needed addressing: 1. One slightly warped front disc 2. Not a lot of stopping power, and a very wooden feel to the front brakes...

    Torque on my VTR

It looks a bit like a frame bolt, and in that situation (can't get a torque wrench on it), I'd put a few drops of Thread lock on it and do it up nice an tight with a ring spanner or socket. To get an approximate idea of what force to use, torque a nut up to 36Nm and then undo it with the ring...

Norton / Harley Ironhead Cafe Project.. Build thread

Belt final drive, hmm never considered that, never had one on any of my bikes. Besides, a good quality chain will last a long time if you look after it, it transmits power more efficiently, and it just looks better IMHO 8)

    FZR750 Cafe Racer

Ok, it's New Years Eve and I've had a few too many Bourbon & Cokes to allow me to head out, so here's the latest instalment. After finishing tiling the kitchen this morning (I had to earn this ride..) I got the tank fitted, fuelled up and headed over to a mates place - guess what - no...

    FZR750 Cafe Racer

It's been a frustrating few days as I've been battling a leaking fuel tap on the bottom of the tank. After several goes I thought I hade it sorted so I headed out for a shake down ride the other day. First off to the petrol station to top up and then onto the motorway to run the bike up to...

Norton / Harley Ironhead Cafe Project.. Build thread

IMHO I'd say go clear; if you can bring the rest of the metal back to a silver finish as it looks black in the photo's - this would give a classy silver / gold contrast, otherwise all black.

    FZR750 Cafe Racer

Thanks for the comments rundown. I finished the registration today and it's 100% road legal now :) The inspiration: The result: yup, close enough for me. Yeah, not traditional, but it was never meant to be, just a scruffy plastic fantastic that I thought I could save from being broken...

    FZR750 Cafe Racer

It's been a while since I updated this thread but progress has been going on and on Monday it's going to be made road legal. It's turned out pretty much like I planned, but as it's an on going project, it'll keep getting bits done when time and cash allow. What's next, well I'll...

    FZR750 Cafe Racer

I've been making slow but steady progress since the last post. I swapped out the 750 carbs for the 1000 carbs that were on the race bikes 750 motor and that took care of the petrol leak :D I also fitted some new O-rings to the coolant pipe, and that leak was also history. I've been adding a...
