Lookin good man! I'd personally find another head. Probably a lot cheaper than trying to fix that. BTW you'll love the 466 kit from eBay. I just broke mine in. Pulls hard and I still have the stock cam, although a lot of other modifications.

My gasket was baked on as well. PIA! Do not scrape it off with anything that will gouge. I used a dremel abrasive buff tip http://www.dremel.com/en-us/Accessories/Pages/ProductDetail.aspx?pid=511E and the gasket came right off.

Nice and clean! Definitely try to put the pistons in and compress the rings by hand. I found it way easier and less stressful than hose clamps and a rubber mallet which just doesn't sound like a good idea. I even had minimal taper on my sleeve due to the overbore to 466 and it wasn't that hard...

Yeah surffly I've been a couple times to matchless. Not always easy for me to get there on Mondays but I will when I can for sure.

Long time since posting but the bike is finally together and running amazing. This thing is crazy fast compared to a stock 400f. I'm still dealing with a few carb tuning issues but nothing completely unexpected with a modified engine/carbs/open tuned exhaust. The engine definitely runs HOT...

Got the wire harness all wrapped up, headers installed, filled with brad penn 30w break in oil, side stand installed and domino push/pull throttle hooked up. Just have a few more things before first start up! Like getting fuel line. The little things.

Skirt clearance should be .0012" - .0016" for the 466 bigbore kit. I just got mine done, shoot for the lower number.

I've been looking too but no luck. It's unfortunate people stock a lot of 550 and 750 parts but not many 400. Demand I guess.
