Feel free to throw in some comments/tips/criticism on the build to get the thread back on track. I could use all the expertise I can get.

have you thought about swapping the forks to 35mm from a 550?
These bikes like one inch tall rear shocks, you can find CB750 progressive (the brand, not the turn used to describe cheap junk shocks everyone sells) cheap from time to time

Good for you running a front fender, it acts like a brace on these bikes and that is important
What are you planing to do about rearsets? Lower then drag bars with stock pegs is a fail in my book. Limits the leverage on the bars and makes the bike uncomfortable.

Bike is for my 98lb 5'6" girlfriend so raising the rear and fitting stiffer shocks isn't really necessary. Hoping the slightly heavier weight fork oil will do the trick in the front.

As for rearsets right now I have a cbr929rr shifter side rearset mocked in place using the passenger peg plates, but not sure if I'm going to keep that setup. Might clamp them on to the frame a little higher or get universal rearsets to mount in the passenger peg mount. Could use some comments on the placement, as this is my first foray into custom mounting rearsets. I have posted some pics earlier in this thread.

I'm not into the whole form before function thing... Front fender and rear fender a must for both bracing in the front and practicality. Building this as sort of a mini version of my triumph bonneville black with a bonneville front fender and thruxton rear fender, so actually the cb350 fender and chopped and painted rear fender fit right into the look.

Was out of town for the last week, so I haven't gotten a lot done. I did attempt to lace the rear wheel though. I haven't trued it yet so I don't know how I did.

Also got my carbs in the mail. Got them from a guy out in PA whom may be on this forum. Not sure. Either way, freshly rebuilt Mikuni VM30 carbs, throttle cable and tube, and a bunch of extras. Have 2 more carb bodies, those billet looking collars (not sure what the deal with those is so if somebody knows please fill me in), velocity stacks, and assorted extra parts. Combine that with two other Mikuni vm30 bodies I got on a trade and I have a lot of Mikuni VM30 parts, haha.

Nice. I plan to install some vm30s on my build some time in the future. Really nice that you have doner-set.

Let me know if you want to go about building your own and want parts.

Thanks! I'm not really sure what I'm going to do - depends on the amount of time I have to devote to the carbs. Was originally planning on just picking up a set from DCC or somewhere. Can't have too many side projects if i want to ride this coming season!

Nice work on the build! It's shaping up nicely!

I think I read that you plan to ditch the CL pipes. Do you still have them? If so, would you like to sell them? Let me know!

Thanks guys. Sadly I am switching jobs so the past two months have been consumed by transitioning and work travel. Also finally had some half decent temps here in NYC so I finally got around to finishing up the rear wheel and mounting it as a roller (no sprocket or brake at this point, just wanted to get it on the axle to allow me to roll it around). Seeing it on two wheels has renewed my motivation and thankfully in a few weeks I'll have some free time again. Still hoping to have it done by May.

Oh and sorry, I'll be using the cl pipes. Just wrapping them.

Build is looking great! I hope we can have both our ladies riding together by the beginning of the season.

Started messing with the tank. Got a sweet fiberglass tank off a 305 but the gf didn't like it. I don't care for the flat tapered sides of the cl350 so I experimented with some contouring. Inset the vintage emblem and some knee dents. Still very rough. Not sure if I'll stick with it or just sand it down and go all smooth and flat.

Did some more work on the tank. Gf wanted slab sides so sanded back down and got em smooth. Got the badge recess cleaned up and even. Still needs some work but hopefully will have the bodywork done and in high build primer for blocking by Sunday.

Spraymax 2k filler primer and single stage black on its way.

made some real progress over the past week. Working from home is great. Got the tank painted and started messing with making the seat cover. This is my 2nd shot at it and still not sure if I'm going to keep it. I'm doing all the stitching by hand with a speedy stitcher awl and my hands are killing me. Rearsets from Viet arrived and are going on next, then when the weather warms up next week I'm going to get the engine painted and installed. Can't wait for it to look like a real bike!

Ended up scotchbriting the polished bits. Just didn't like the polished look as much as a clean satin look. Plus, easier to keep clean!

making some serious progress over the last few days. Painted the engine today and got it in the frame. Had to disassemble the entire bike down to the frame, first tried laying it down over the engine, but then just straddled the frame and lifted it in brute force style. wrapped the frame in towels and actually had minimal damage. One scratch/chip that can be easily touched up. Putting it all back together was another story, ended up dropping one of the headlight ears and chipped it. Oh well, I'm painting more stuff black shortly anyhow, what's another headlight ear thrown into the mix.

Thanks! All done, including paint, in my Manhattan backyard with basic tools and spray cans (spraymax 2k single stage from 66autocolor)

More progress. Getting closer. Just have the velocity stacks on for show now, need to get pod filters. Next up is the exhaust, new sprockets, chain, and 2.5" gauge from dimecitycycles. Then I start wiring. I hate wiring........

Don't mind the badges being backwards. They were just slapped on their temporarily to see how it looked. Wasn't paying enough attention
