Lacing itself wasn't so hard, truing is another story... I'm not sure I'd tackle it again without a proper truing stand. The frustration wasn't worth it.
Some more small updates. Mounted the 2.5" mini gauge from dimecitycycles and wrapped the exhaust. Painted the bracket and it's still drying so it is kind of just sitting in place until tomorrow.
And yes, I know the badges are still backwards. Haven't popped em off yet.
Did a few minor things today. Started install of the Acadia Vintage Motorcycles electronic ignition, ghetto fabbed a H4 headlight upgrade, and started planning out a battery box and my wiring
With the H4 headlight upgrade I wanted to keep the vintage glass headlight look so I bought a H4 plug and scooter 35w bulb and installed it in the original headlight housing. Just cut the old bulb base with the dremel, broke up the bulb and enlarged the hole to fit the bulb. Then just used silicon to keep the bulb in place. Not very fancy but should provide a little more light without overwhelming the charging system.
You can also see my tach block off plug since I'm going speedo only.
coming down the home stretch and taking care of details now. Installed the rear brake shoes and hooked up the rearset, replaced the kick start with a CB500T lever with new rubber, and modified the LED lucas tail light I got from dimecitycycles
new kickstart rubber
Lucas LED tail light from DimeCityCycles. Unfortunately it didn't fit the contour of the chopped fender, so out came the dremel and files. Even after some trimming, the license plate bracket didn't sit right so off it came and repositioned it. Some JB Weld made it all permanent.
The cut is barely noticeable from the front
from the back is another story... but nobody will see that
Fits much better now. Still working out final positioning on the fender
started messing around with the wiring as well. All lights aside from the headlight will be LED. Got the coils and a newer starter solenoid and just trying to figure out how to mount it all.
Got the tail light mounted and am very happy with how it turned out. Really can't tell it's been modified unless you look for it.
Also got the coils mounted up and spark plug wires run. They are just in there temporarily to test fit as the bracket is going to come out to be painted and new hardware will be used.
Mounting up the starter solenoid (off 250 ninja) and R/R
Got the mirrors and front turn signals installed. Not entirely happy with the turn signals, but wanted something LED and easily seen (girlfriend will be riding the bike). They are LED bullet style signals i got from ebay. They are generally meant for harleys and other cruisers, so the design doesn't exactly fit the stock/cafe style. However, my main gripe is that they are made out of crappy plastic so I hope they last.
