1972 CB100 Honda..maybe for the wife.

Did you take the carb completely off and turn it over to reset the gasket? I had to do that because the first time I checked all the jets and put the bowl back on the gasket pinched and leaked. Took it off, turned it over, took bowl off, reset gasket, have not had a problem since. You could also check the drain screw and make sure that is tight.

trek,

here is the spec sheet from the shop manual. it looks like the 100 makes max HP @ 11k

Yep, that's exactly what I did. Removed it.

It's running like crap, can't get it to idle now. Have to keep blipping the throttle to keep it running.

Everything is tight.............still leaking out of the overflow tube.

It's just so freaking hot when I get home to mess with this thing.

Still need to reinstall the carbs on the CB750. I think the oil line is leaking, so gotta look into that.

The tins for the CB350 are primed. Waiting to be painted as soon as I build up the nerve to try out these new guns I bought.

Every freaking bike I own has problems.

Because I had the cylinders bored to .50mm over the factory spec, will that have any affect on the carbs, or any other timing issues?

Well, all that was to no avail.....the freaking carb is still peeing. I think I'm gonna take the spring from it and put into the origianl carb and see what happens with that one.

Im assuming you made damned sure the float needle and seat were clean.

needle tip in good shape? needle sides smooth (magnifying glass)...no burrs to cause it to drag or hang in the seat. spring inside needle working smooth and compressing/decompressing properly, smoothly.

float height hasnt changed? leaking float filling w gas? Getting stuck/dragging/hanging on the pin.

Float seat gasket/ o-ring...maybe broke.

If its peeing from the overflow...problem is definitely in the float.

The "end" of the 5th gear line marked on my speedo is 75mph. The calculator says 11krpm would put it at 79.86mph. so real close. And I did just half ass measure the rear tire diameter at an easy & approx 23".

So, on a dyno w no wind resistance/rider. and turning the engine into a hand grenade at 11,000rpm. Honda probably did have one actually hit 75mph...ONCE. ;D

Now I am excited to move the crappy digital tach I installed on her, so I can monitor rpm while riding.

Its presently hid, located it under tank for carb tuning purposes only. ::)

Do a few plug chops.

The other day I was thinking about welding a bung on the exhaust pipe so I could install my O2 sensor and get real time burn info. for proper tweaking. But then I would need to carry a 12volt battery in my pocket to power it.

Hold on a sec...I still got the beer rack! & bungee cords. hmmm.

This is that new carb I bought.

I wouldn't figure I'd have these issues with it, right out of the box.

But, I'm gonna give it one more try, then the original will be put on, and see what happens.

Another thing, it could be a leaking or cracked overflow tube. If thats the case just swap in the original bowl.

Never thought of that.....but would that make it run crappy?

rich if its over filling enough to run out overflow.

I'll have to check it, just getting frustrated, and pizzed at the pizzer.

I did find a seat, with a funky looking upholstery job.

Looks like all I need to do is find the foam for it, or build up my own.

The seat cover looks new, too.

HVLP? Absolutely worth it. Make sure you get a decent inline oiler and pressure reg. I painted all my stuff with a tiny 5 gal compressor :D

A set from Lowes:

I have a 33 gal compressor from Sears.

Can't live w/o having a air compressor, for some reason, I have to air up the tires on everything I own all the time.

wife's van, once or twice a month

Daughter's car, once a month

My old truck every other day

my bikes every so often.

my other old truck every other day

Guess that's why I went with such a big compressor.

There ya go. We have a 33 gal in the garage too but my little guy stays out in the bike shed with me.

Not sure how those guns work, I Use the gravity fed ones with the reservoir on top. Make sure you clean em reaaaal good

Hey thanks for the tips.

My brother said the same thing. Too bad he's 12 hours away. I'd get him to do it for me. He's purdy good at painting.

Well came across a decent tank......needs cleaning, but feels like real metal all around.

Also got that ugly seat, still needs work.

Getting ready to tear the engine down again to replace the kicker shaft.

That's gonna happen in the next few weeks......maybe.
