Thanks, brother. There will be wheelies, no doubt. And races with Mr E at Meltdown.

Attempt #3 on the seat. Made from an old Timbuk2 courier bag.

Tail lights/turn signals are mounted. I'm not too keen on how the wiring is run on these for how I want to mount them, so I may drill out the threads and reroute the wires. Shocks are also mounted.

I didn't like the way the tail lights were wired for my application, so I did a little adapting...

I'll finish the threads off with an acorn nut.

So the work begins installing my new Sparck Moto wiring harness. It's also time to get final components installed.

I searched and searched for a front turn signal style that I liked, or one that seemed to fit the style of the fairing.
Nothing really worked, and the post style that most motorcycles use wasn't gonna fly.

On my CB360, I modified a 67 Mercury Cougar turn signal to use as a tail light here:

I like the design, so I thought I would copy it for the XL. I don't have a lathe or mill,
so machining had to be done with a drill press and these here hands...

As soon as the rubber cures on the backside, I'll finish the aluminum with a polish.

Get this thread moved to the section it belongs in, teach

Re: 1973 XL175 Orange Soda Hell Ride

Thanks, guys. One thing to note: it's better to cut 1.25" holes before paint, not after. (duh!) I hadn't resolved this until now, so I didn't have much choice. But, I came really close to fucking the paint up royally. I did put two gouges in the paint on the right side that I had to touch up. I used a 1 1/8" stepper bit, then a burr bit to bring it out to 1 1/4". This is why I can't have nice things...

Re: 1973 XL175 Orange Soda Hell Ride

i love it the whole thing :-* its mahvelous ;D
you should consider some wider pegs like off a more modern dirtbike they really make a diff in feel and confidence when standing on the pegs
or you can just and a third cleat off the back, leave it so the center is slighter higher for a rocker effect ;)
