Yea man that looks awesome. With all the metal shaping going on here you should consider making your own front fender, I think it would really bring it all home aesthetically. Looks great so far. Wish I had your drive in the garage; I'm an impatient, lazy fuck when it comes to bodywork.
Yer 12v regulator is on the way. Thought about throwing in another spare in case it was DOA, but it should be good if it's off the bike I think it came off of. Are you running lights off a separate battery or does the 6v system actually put out enough voltage?
Yep. I'll split the 12v reg off the stator. Truth is, H4 halogens will run off the 6v, it's just a question of brightness. I'll send you PayPal tomorrow.
I used the template from the seat, which matches the profile of the tank to see if it would work. Definitely too tall. Though maybe somewhat of a windshield could be nice, but not a road bike type. Getting a headlight figured out should make a difference too. We'll see. On to adjustments.
Hi there bro! Been following this build for long time. That fairing with the embedded light is looking awesome.
As you say it may be too tall, natural suggestion would be to just trim it, or you could just make a sort of bend / line across the fairing about 2" from the top of the headlight. The line being horizontal, but following the contour of the fairing. This bend will make the top of the fairing to point towards the Renthal foam protector. Hope I explain myself correctly.
Ha. I prefer a Kid reference. Can we have a House Party up in here?
Hopefully things start to look better as the form develops and I work out the sides. I considered the flat number plate, which I may go back to, but that set up typically doesn't incorporate the gauge. I want it to be flat track inspired, but make use of the street, so I'm pushing to make a setup that works with the gauge. I'm starting to lean toward a Supermoto look similar to that of the DR650's:
