Are you going to lay the bars upside down for the agressive look or have them on for an uprigth stance like a moped , LOL ;D

I am not diggin the white grips. They look like bycicle handles for a 70's schwinn. But, to each it's own. What paint scheme do you have in mind?

I am contemplating mounting them upside down, gotta get them on the bike first and see it I have turning clearance...

I am going to paint the tanks and covers (and maybe the fenders) British Racing Green... I cant find this color in spray cans, so I might have to get the Hue # and see if I can have a paint shop do them for me... I would love it if one of our members (who has some paint experience) paint them for me... HINT HINT... if there is anyone out there that would be abliged to do it!!

But that is the plan for now, bike is still up in Raleigh at my brothers house so until I get her home its just a plan!!

Oooohhh, that would be a nice color. Come on and make the drive already. the weather sucks right about now, and it seems like it's going to stay wet and cold for a weeks worth.

Glad to see you picked up a new project. I like the white grips and black bars, this is gonna scream for a tracker look!!

Hope this one fares better than the 200 for you!

Just shot you a pm, if you build the seat and buy the vinyl and thread (unless I have some upholstery grade left here) I'll swing by, pick it up, make a pattern and make you a cover if you want. Be a good excuse to drag the Singer out.

What do you plan to polish on the bike?

Just replied to your PM.. thanks for the offer... I am gonna take you up on it!!!

I think I am going to polish the engine covers and maybe the top end cover this time instead of painting them... Probably going to pain the jugs but thats about it..

Sounds good, the british racing green is really complimented by polished bits.

Maybe even throw an offset racing stripe on the tank and a 37?

Oh... 37 is gonna be on the bike somewhere... not quite sure where yet, but it is going to be in yellow somwhere on the bike...

Got some sanding done on the 550 tank this weekend.. Discovered an undescribed dent in the tank that was filled with body filler... The PO did a pretty good job of filling the Emblem mounts and the dent in the front of the tank... I will have to redo the bondo because I had to use a Wire wheel on the tank to get the 5 coats of paint off the tank, but thats okay.. here are the photos after about 4 1/2 good hours of sanding...

Stop Youre stealing all my ideas. I have the same tank and that was a similar paint scheme as i was gonna use. I was gonna use a different color green but green with white stripe. Keep it up.

Still haven't been up to pick the bike up, weather conditions have been NASTY the past few days here in NC... We got about 2 inches of snow that melted and turned to 2.5 inches of ICE... so making the trip to pick up the bike had to be postponed  but hopefully I will be able to get up there this weekend to pick her up... Although they are calling for the same weather this coming weekend!!!

I have those exact signals at home. I originally bought them for the cafe but changed my mind on the signal styles so I think I'll just hold on to them for the SR250 bobber project that's up next.

I had been looking everywhere for them, but couldn't find them... then they just popped up on Ebay so I snatched em up!! Think they are gonna look sweet on the bike!

Turn signals on a bobber?? ::)

Sell em to me! 8)

I think the wide stripe would look better if it wasn't so close to the gas cap. Give it ~1/4" space between the two and it gets my vote. Until then I'll probably be the only one to vote thin stripe. ::)

+1 to RG about moving the stripe away from the cap

And those turn signals rock!

I agree 100% RG... Not only would it make it a little easier to lay the stripe, but I think it would look tons better moved away from the gas cap a bit.

Thanks for the reply!

Cheers,
Kevin
