1975 Honda GL1000 Goldwing Rat Rod thing...

Finished the paintwork on my fender ornament :

Remounted the taillight :

Let my five year old daughter paint on the battery box:

Rad! I'm starting to feel like I need to get mine going. Also, tell Brad to hurry the hell up on that tank, dammit.

That's kewl. So what are we looking at in volume and does it have clearance for the air filter? Maybe I should get Brad to make me one too.

2.2 gallons, ha.

This bike came with no actual air box. Just a hacked up air filter bolted to the top. Ran great with the hacked up filter, so I will continue with the hack approach.

in a gl its the plenum that does the smoothing for the carbs they are really cb450 carbs

so no worried about the no stock air filter there is no magic in it it just filters and takes care of a place for the crankcase vent

2.2 gallons is just enough to get the tires warm on the highway its not even 100 miles on a gl1000

you need one of those jeep 5 gallon jug side mounts

Ha that would be badass. Hatchet and crossbow on the otherside

Looking very steampunk. Like the headlight

Now just put a couple of bungee cords over that thing to lash it down and you'll be ready to go.

Red kote in the gas tank. Filled it will petrol. No leaks. Huzzah.

Spent all day yesterday with a wiring harness, wiring diagram, and a direct line of communication to Mr. Sparck himself.

Headlight, tail light, brake light, starter button all working. Battery on charger. Will hook up the petrol tomorrow and see if it will fire.

Petrol...

Bet he was drinking a $20 beer and listening to obscure art house band that "you probably haven't heard of" while debating which scarf would match the bike best.

Fucking Jussy...

uses words like petrol

then puts white zip ties on a black fork leg to tie down a black 35 year old rubber line

hmmmmmmmm

That white zip tie was already there. I will be replacing it with a proper black one. (And eventually replacing the lines with Stainless steel ones)

I was watching SHawn of the Dead while working last night.
