1976 Honda cj 360

Hi. I have a 1976 CJ360T and I really would like to fit a center stand. Since the bike did not have one when new, which one did you use (was it for a different Honda model and year?) and where on the bike does it fit? Also, does your stand have a stop to keep it from going too far up (toward the chain?) I saw on your informative post where the return spring fits but I could not see the center stand installation itself.

Thanks so much for your help and patience! :)

Well about 2 weeks of soaking in only apple cider vinegar.

looks like it did an amazing job.

does it look that good, what you can see of the bottom?

Yeah there are a few speck of rust but I ran a garden hose thru it for about 45 min got flushed out really well the dried it as good as I could and coated the inside of the tank with mystery oil. That cider vinegar ate the old petcock seals and made it so fragile it just broke off by touching it and it was just finger tight

the petcock broke or the threaded pipe welded on tank?

if its just the petcock I got a new cheapy on ebay and I have no complaints. it works great.

As far as the centerstand I did not get the one I bought to fit.

Thanks so much for the answer. I was wondering if a center stand made for a CB 360 might be a better fit. The frame drawings (off of Honda parts sites) look very similar. The CJ360 has those bottom brackets which MUST fit something.

Outstanding job on cleaning that tank. I've learned a lot from reading all about your restoration!

The petcock actually broke. Really easily. I already have a new one just put the old one on for cleaning purpose.

Countingman if you are interested in the centerstand I have it's off a 74 cb360? Give me a pm

Well she is almost done! Just need to adjust the brakes and maybe timing and floats. But other than that I'm ready to take the maiden voyage!!

I have done neither. Just a fluke on the timing and bench synced the carbs with a needle

Chris

the needle will have it amazingly close if not perfect. but we can double check em w gauges tomorrow. only takes a second.
