1977 CB750 F2 Super Sport

i swear we need to start a supersport sub-faction crew :)

send me a PM and let me know how much you want for that top triple clamp, and your paypal ID.

thanks again!

PM sent. I guess I didn't know what msimm was looking for. Clarify, and I might have what you need. I thought Raf needed the top tree, and you needed the bits that hod the bars to it... am I mistaken?

*Edit* Is this the beast your hunting?

I was not looking for anything, I was just wondering if you were going to grind down the lower half of the handle bar mounts, or if you were going to leave it. Should look cool when you finish.

Progress report!

This weekend was super nice, so I spent a lot of it working on the bike (but not as much time as I spent riding)

My patience got the best of me and I threw in the towel for this round of tank mods. After 3 more layers of bondo and sanding (for a total of 8-9), I just went straight to rattle can primer and paint. 3 coats of primer. 3 coats of the quintessential flat-black. Doing this brought out all the imperfections, so when I revisit the tank in a month or so, I'll know where all the high/low spots are. It's not pretty or perfect, but it's enough for now ;)

I also moved on to a much needed oil change. It’s been about 400-500 since the last time I did this, but It was way overdue. The oil was super black and thick, which was good because it was a sign that there were a bunch of engine contaminants being suspended in the oil. After draining the oil from the drain plug and reservoir, it was on to removing the oil filter cover.

When I changed the oil a couple months ago, I had to remove the ‘oil filter base’ due to an aftermaket oil filter bolt that was the wrong length for my year. This time around, after picking up oil and a filter, I also found a stock oil filter bolt for my particular year/make/model. It was tricky navigating around the new pipe, but I managed to get the oil filter base back on, along with some fresh lube for the engine.

Super cool, finned 'oil filter base'. This was apprently a 1-off, stock part for the 77-78 F-models (i think) that provided extra flow for the oil, which provided better cooling.

Thanks man! That gas tank doesn't look good at all, but thanks for the compliments! I just ran out of patience for more bondo/sanding sessions, so it's a wrap for now. I'll revisit soon though.

I may just have to whip out the Photoshop again to mockup what it would look like with powdered Comstars. I plan on doing all the chrome/powdercoating this winter, while the engine is getting drilled :)

A guy in my crew (username: Drake Landers) just scored a couple more 750 parts bikes. I'm hoping he can flip me a swingarm so I can send that to chrome now

Drake, if you're reading this: ;) ;) ;)

well i'll be damned.

after seeing how good yours turned out, I just might do that instead.

but it's just not chroommmmme

we'll see :)

New speedometer came in... I haven't wired everything yet, but I was antsy to get it on there, so I just plugged in the speedo cable.

In other news, my tachometer cable broke. I quit.

Anyone have a spare I can buy? Pay for shipping?

Funny, because I didn't get these from Mike's! At the time of ordering, they were out of stock so I managed to find the same ones on eBay for a few dollars more. So you're right - they must have been getting blown out.

I'm upgrading to a Dyna2000 next month, so I plan to remount the ignition key, then move the clocks in tighter. Still waiting on a spare triple tree that i can grind down cough*crescentson*cough.

;)

Totally! Ken knows his shit.. that's where I got my pipes and headlight ears. I plan on getting tapered bearings, progressive springs, oil cooler/filter combo, oil pressure gauge and other nick-nacks from. Good people. Good parts. Perfect.

The only reason I didn't buy my clocks from them was because their speedo didn't have the built-in 'idiot lights'. I don't need them... just wanted to get the integrated speedo cuz it looked cool :D

The clocks setup looks great! It will look very cool with the relocated ignition as well. Were are you planning on putting it?

Sorry to hear about the tach cable. If the right hand doesn't get you, then the left one will.

I've already got some spare tach cables waiting for me. One of the benefits of being in a bike club :)

I'll probably put the ignition key under the gas tank, towards the front. I wanted to mount it near the rear, but that means longer/relocated wires. Who knows, maybe I'll move it back there when I gut and redo the electronics?
