1977 Suzuki TS-250

Got a $50 gift certificate from Amazon.com so I purchased this GPS mount kit... It is a lot of messing around to try and find the stores in Amazon.com that will ship to Canada (couldn't use the gift card on Amazon.ca).

The mount looks pretty good! Now I can tell my speed!
I'm worried about breaking it but time will tell...

Here it is with my beefy GPS case:

Here is the waterproof setup:

I also ordered the smartphone mount because I wanted the extra handlebar mount for my other bike (all three are interchangeable):

Could use the iPhone GPS in a pinch...

I'm still picking at this bike, believe it or not.
I'm currently a student/parts delivery/taxi driver... so the daily hussle gets in the way of the bikes a lot lately (past few years).

Here's a bad pic of the cafe in front of the Tracker as they sit now...

I recently gave the carb a good cleaning and all new Jets... was having issues with the bike burning up the plug. Runs even better now.

I cleaned all the rust and dirt out of the tank with the "shake a bunch of nuts and bolts around in there" method. Worked pretty well.

I'm going to start the body and paint work on the tank and tail this week. Only problem is I need to have the decals re-created out of vinyl. Can't seem to find anywhere that currently makes them:

Anybody have a hookup for vinyls?
Or able to make that image into an image I can send to a sign shop?

Hey By, glad to see you're still around. Check with Sonrier (Matt) I think he does vinyl.

Cheers.

Yes by, I'm not going anywhere just stuck in a school and work shit-storm. Haha

I love the GL you did; my buddy has a restored '77 he's putting on the road this year.

I'll shoot him a message and see what he says, thanks!

Nice to see you back at it Evan!

Thanks Perry I don't get much of a chance to work on it lately but we recently started to renovate a motor home and I got the mechanical bug again.

Yep, sometimes you just need a break, then when you get back to it, you have that much more drive. Thanks for the props on the GL, it isn't perfect but I ride it way to damn much to care, It got me to Mid-Ohio from NB last year through torrential rain and everything else about 3500 mile trip. Wore out my shinkos in one season last year. Sadly this year is not looking like I will get any trips like that.

I was hoping to do a cross Newfoundland trip at least this year. May be doing it in the RV instead now.

I'm trying to get as much done on the bikes now while the fire is still under my butt.

Trying this stuff out (from Can Tire):

Sprayed it like rattle can paint all over:

Bubbled up pretty well:

Then I hit it with a scraper... Almost down to bare metal now. I'll throw some more pics up as I get em.

There is some bondo under the paint, and a different yellow. I'll go with the original yellow I found underneath.

Stripped, starting bondo tonight... the tank was re-painted before but I'll be going with a similar paint scheme anyway. I liked it.

Got all the dents out of the tank, now just need to get it all smoothed out.

Waiting on the sand-coat to dry:

almost ready for colour, I am dreading this step a bit on the CX as I always want to rush it. I really need to take my time and do it right.

I had the same issue with putting it off... then one day i saw some paint stripper and said f*** it.

The real time taker is going to be getting a great paint job from a rattle can. I'm planning on using the "bling" method from here on the forum. Picked up the yellow yesterday.

I contacted sonreir like you suggested and he came through! I'm just waiting on the decals to be made and shipped!
Also, I ordered the "SUZUKI" lettering and a few number 7's to make up the rest of the decals.

The bike will be number 77, it is a 1977, and the licence plate number is also 77 (new plate - I was just lucky).

Ease, are you going to be using SprayMax 2K for the clear? I used it on my MB5 and highly recommend it, awesome stuff.

Where did you get the SprayMax? I can't remember what the brand is of the clear I bought... I'll check when I get home.

It was recommended at Finish Line / Big Boys Toys... I must say the customer service wasn't good compared to a few years ago when it was just a paint shop (new owner). A lot less paint supplies now too.

Funny you should say that, I went in to Finish Line last year for paint stripper and they guy that served me was a total idiot, very arrogant. I'll never go back there again.

You can get the SprayMax at Napa.

I have spraymax for the CX, got it at Napa. Glad Matt could help you out. patience is the key to good rattle can jobs and it takes all my control to not rush it, good luck, it should turn out great. If the clear you bought isn't a 2 stage, I would not use it and get the Sprymax as on oops at the gas pump and all your hard work is ruined with regular clear.

Yeah Perry I was toning it down when I said the customer service "wasn't good"... In reality I stood around trying to get anyone's attention with my parts in hand - clearly they are only interested in selling their bikes now.

I may go back just one more time... to return the clear. Haha

EDIT: Working at ProAuto I asked a few customers about Finish Line and they all were pretty vocal about how much they've gone downhill.
