hope I'm responding right, wasn't sure how to answer.
Anyway its a mixed bag, a little bit brat with a lot of Cafe' and hold the sugar. Right now I'm struggling to find the right rims and/or wheels. I want to stay with spokes but as you know the 77-78 have 17" rims. I want an 18" but wider rim for the tires I plan to install. Even that's on hold because none of the 4.00x19 tire will be available until late April? go figure. I might use the stock wheel up front but would like a wider one. I will be putting the add on’s on line as the project progresses.
For the fella asking what I was building in 1974, the Red Cafe' avatar is one. A fella had two new CB350s with low mileage under a K if I remember right. Well he had placed them in a moving van to haul them to Santa Cruz (where I was) in doing so he laid shipping blankets over the bikes them strapped them down. Well unfortunately he hadn't the ware with all to disconnect the batteries. He had run a strap over a cigarette lighter attached to his handle bars. Well that thing got hot smoldered for ages the set the blanket on fire then the bike. Most plastic was melted but the bones were good so I got a deal on it. I took everything apart, bored it out to 408cc I think or something close to that. Most of the metals appearance was shot so I panted the engine Black, cut off the mufflers painted pipes white except the ends I left chrome and put baffles in them I painted the wheels and hubs White, chromed the spokes and did the nipples in brass. Frame, chain guard, headlight case, front fender, triple trees and misc. also white. Sent off for a rear set to Yosimura in Japan, they were nearly none existent in the US. Then a buddy of mine Tracy "Tracy and Friends, ( Hey, it was the 70's ) Fiberglass Works on the North side of Santa Cruz, near the Hershey Plant and Twin Bridges State Park. He was big time into all sorts of motorcycle parts, Fairings, fuel tanks and quite well known for his integrated bodies. That's one on the 350, red metal flake and pin striping, in the California Sun it was dazzling. Well he needed a CB750 to put parts on for photo shoots in Natl. motorcycle mags so I volunteered mine. In returned he had the guys color match my CB750's Vetter, side covers, a helmet tote and one of his oversized fuel tanks, he also included the 350's body too be followed by a matching fairing’. Due to a number of things that went South the business closed including my fairing. Ahhhh they were great times. I'll chuck in some photos of that as well. I just got back from a Crab Feed and I'm stuffed. Off to get some Zzzzz
