1979 GS 750 café "Stella Green"

OK, I'm back on it & trying to finish my tail section plug so I can make a mold & a few copies. Man bondo is a pain in the ass. I've also decided to make this the most complicated tail shape for some reason, I must hate myself, haha.

Once I get the shape as close as humanly possible with the bondo I'm going to put a coat resin on it which will hopefully give me a really smooth surface... either that or a bunch of high build primer & some hi gloss paint... any ideas?

Seems like Flickr is being weird & won't let me imbed the photos... oh well, those are the links to pics of the tail if anyones interested!

Here we go... good ol' photobucket!

I'm making a recessed area when the seat pan will go... It'll be sheet metal with foam and covered in a gold/tan vinyl. I'm hoping that it being recessed will make the seat look nice and flush with the tail & the seat will be held in with heavy duty velcro so I can easily pull it out and put it on the other tail that I'm making for her other "outfit".

Hopefully I'll be priming & painting my plug sometime this week. what color gloss do you guys think will show the discrepancies the best? I was thinking black?

Yup, black is always the worst/best at showing flaws.

using some resin to level out the bottom of the pan. what do you all think about coating the whole plug in resin? will it give me a nice glassy finish or will it just be messy as all hell? should i just stick with primer & gloss spraypaint?

So I painted the tail gloss black last night and I definitely still got some Bondo-ing to do haha... Black definitely shows the flaws!

Any good suggestions of how to get this plug as close to glassy smooth as possible? I thinking filler primer, sand, gloss black, sand, filler primer, sand, gloss black, sand & repeat to infinity... hahaha

I want to make sure I'm not drilling too many holes in the rotors... BUT, I like the look of the ones with more holes. I don't want to compromise the integrity of the rotors so how much is TOO much? Can anyone weigh in on this?

I kinda like this one, it's somewhere in the middle. Not too sparse & not too dense.

This is a proper drill pattern. You don't want a solid ring between holes, it will wear to ridges and valleys.

Thanks 4 eyes! That's the info I was looking for!
