after putting a new battery and fixing some wiring snafus I took the first ride, I got antsy and ordered a few "mandatory" parts from dime city cycles.
I must say, I was pleasantly surprised how quickly they shipped to me. big ups to them. I've already recommended them to a few friends. Thanks guys.
The night I got the parts, I decided time is precious and got the clip ons installed lol.
Today I rearranged all the cables and wiring and beat the hell out of the tank for bar clearance. I'm in the hunt for a dunstall tank or something to that affect, anyone who can help please feel free to give me a shout.
took the bike out due to the nicer than normal weather. seems like I have an electrical issue. bike loses power after a riding, maybe 10 miles, and dies. then the bike is acting like i have a dead battery. but if I wait a while I can crank it right back up like nothings wrong. any ideas?
I'm also brainstorm on upgrade to a more modern frontend. if anyone has any info or help I will mail ya some beer lol
heres a picture of the bike as of yesterday. soon I should have a honda cr tank on it's way then i can start making the plug for the seat.
Boy the more I read about the problems people have had with their bikes, and I have too, the more I realize how unlucky i've been.... But I digress. Sounds like your had tank is not venting air in properly, and it's starving your bike for fuel. If you let it sit a while, the pressure equalizes and off you go. Unless it won't crank over. . Then I'm just stupid. Anyway, next time it happens, try opening your gas cap. If you hear air rushing into your tank, and your bike starts right away, that is the problem.
Is that the cr tank from Omar's? More importantly- will it work with the stock seat pan? I have a stock seat pan with customized upholstery that I don't want to have to butcher and I'm looking at tank options.
You should consider renaming your thread lightning fast. I've been pouring over my '80 cb650 for 3 years now and it still doesn't look as good as yours!
You bike is really starting to look good. I have the same one and want to start making it a racer this fall. Looking for advise on tank, seat to start with. Also when looking for CB650 parts what other years and models will work on mine?
