So I took some pictures, sent them and deleted them only to find they didn't send so you will have to take it for granted that I have in fact been a busy beaver... I have everything clean and painted with the exception of the engine which I need help getting into the back of the Tahoe. Speaking of the Tahoe the fuel pump quit on me as I was pulling into my parking spot with just under 1/2 tank of gas. Being forbidden from going underneath anything with 4 wheels I resorted to removing the rear left seat and creating an access panel so I could remove the in-tank pump from above, sweet deal. The pumps run a couple hundred dollars but the truck is paid for and otherwise in good shape so it is up and running again. This is not my picture but you get the idea. I used my reciprocal saw as I didn't like the idea of all those sparks on top of the fuel tank.
What no interest in in-tank fuel pump r&r? Well moving on I got the engine case split and as it turns out the bolt was over torqued and the block threads are stripped. Nothing a thread repair can't remedy.
While my wife was busy with her Komen activities I got to work on getting the frame together only to find out I got the wrong steering bearing set, anyone need 22-1020 All Balls?
I have been putting the cx together while I wait for wheel bearings to arrive so let me share the hows and why of turn signals. I like having them as I can keep my hands on the bars and be better seen. I like these as they are small, bright and being black they blend in with the frame, I get them at Cycle Gear.
On the cx the rear hole is already in the frame in a great spot so I drill out the hole and tap it to accept the light stud. Hand tight only if they are pointing in the wrong direction i install the supplied lock washer and it rotates the orientation 180 degrees.
The headlight bucket is threaded for the stud already but I drill out one side so I can install a nut inside to keep it tight so it stays in adjustment.
Getting close to ready as this is all I can pickup. I am itching to drop it onto the motor and bolt it together but I don't want that much weight on the bare front forks.
Rear fender going on. These are not real motorcycle fenders but for $23 I can get two fenders that are new with no holes and are very strong and about the correct width. My welder cuts it in two and welds a tab on the leading edge.
He also instals two bolt couplers on the underside of the cross member in the existing holes and I bolt it in place from the underside.
as soon as I build the seat I will radius it and cut it to an appropriate length.
On another note the gearshift rubber is round as is the arm. The item listed at Honda and all on Ebay are oblong, what gives and where do I get a round one as it is shot, shocker?
The inside of the bucket is black so the shiny nut is the one supplied with the signals. As the nut on the bucket is drilled out the extra nut clamps everything together. The signal could do the same thing but it might nut be pointing forward once it is tight enough.
It's alive, it's alive. I took video but the phone isn't wanting to send it, it was like 10 seconds, hello. Baking the header paint on is always a smelly time but they look ok.
