1983 Suzuki GR650 XD Cafe Build

Glad to hear you got her running! It's real satisfying when that happens ain't it? :D

Like Rich said, tuning is just a matter of work... I still haven't started on mine properly yet. Was hoping to do it this weekend but not happening now.

There's a tool called a Colortune that will let you see the colour of the spark and help you get her running right, but best to get some miles on her first and then start fiddling.

Edit: Just read your signature.. haha no probs mate glad I could be of some help :D

thank you - Jesse
p.s. if u look at the bottom right of the page these r the mods i told them about and they said they would engineer the jets accordingly)

i have the elevation in the bottom right corner of the previous pic im goin for and elevation of 1124ft and probly higher for a little mountain riding with my girl

Honesty man, it's a guessing game on my end. It will run with either of those main jet sizes, and it will run regardless of where you have the needle set. When in doubt though, run it on the rich side - bigger mains and the needle with a shim or two.

What auxiliary hole? And if you are talking about the spring above the diaphragms, I wouldn't cut them.

Personally I'd give her a bit of a run first, do some plug chops, then go from there.

I *still* haven't started tuning my 450 for real yet in terms of needles and main jets and I've just done the 1000km service on her.

As long as she's not so lean she'll hole the pistons it'll be ok.

Take her for spin, set the throttle at whatever position you want to check the fueling at, then pull the clutch and hit the kill switch at the same time and check the plug colour. *Don't go by the RPM's or speed, go by the throttle position*

My bikes starter is toast it ground down on my flywheel somehow after it was workin great. i figured out that its 79 yamaha xs650 starter motor that somebody put in there. i need the oem starter motor for a 1983 Suzuki GR650 Tempter even completely broken and not working i will refurbish it i have $ or parts to trade.

I have a spare, but no title for it and the tank mounts have been cut.

Glad to see you got her running at last!

I'd get a pipe and muffler on that exhaust, a nice free flowing one of course ;)

I see pod filters there... K&N's? If so, what do you want to do with the intake?

On a previous build of mine, I bought these VW tips from JC Whitney... free flow with a slight baffle, they can go right onto your pipes.
Just a thought.
