duc in the park.....
Here we go guys....... some new eurotrash under construction 8) 8) 8). These are a few pics of my current project...... a 1977 GTL Cafe Racer. So far: rims cleaned and polished with pirelli tires mounted....... frame painted and installed on engine ???.......... triple trees cleaned and brushed....... fork legs polished.... bodywork painted (red of course). Fairing is a NOS Dunstall (thanks ebay), fairing mount is made from a BMW mount (ebay again), frame drilled and tapped for the mount by yours truely. Handlebars are Jota adjustable clubman bars. The exhaust will be reverse megga replicas. Fenders are stock stainless which will be polished. Seat is going to be cafe hump style with a flying "D" patch sewn on the back. Ran across some white sparkle grips and have ordered racing stripes to match. Carbs are 30mm dellorto pumpers with polished float bowls. So far I have polished and cleaned every nut, bolt, and bracket which has been removed. Now I have the task of putting it back together...... wish me luck ::) ::) ::) and warm weather or a shop heater for Christmas......

My dog slipped in there somehow....... he sure is a sneaky hound ::) ::) ::). Anyway, here are some more pics......

You guessed it..... some more of the same ;) ;) ;).....

Just so you know I ride the hell out of all my bikes ;) ;) ;)....... I had this one doing an indicated ton fifty @ 9000 RPM the other day while leaving my pal George's V-Rod in the dust........YEAH BABY :p :p :p! ! !

Good work soo far, if only you could transplant that Ducati V into the cafe that would be intense.... Keep the pics comin.

Like you say bring on some eurotrash!! man this site could use a little more diversity. nice work looking forward to seeing it done.

Cunninghammer, the V-twin in the crumpled frame is going into another frame. I have most of the parts and am putting it together while doing the GTL also. Frame is Torch red..... wheels are the same. Lightweight bodywork (made for me by Air-Tech) and 1/2 race fairing will be painted vivid black with red factory style graphics. Exhaust is two-into-one with carbon can, and tires are rain tire rear and DOT race tire on the front. I have tires mounted, and front forks rebuilt with triple trees brushed and lookin' very shiney. Lots and lots of new and refurbished parts..... you can see some of the parts in these pics of my very, very messy and crowded shed.... It will be more of a cafe style (to me) than a street fighter because it will have all its bodywork only customized for a psudo-racer look.....

Thanks Zookie..... I just love that crazy hound, he is my best pal. Update on my bike: My tank will be picked up at the painter's today, I had to take it back to be redone because I accidently stepped on it when I lost my balance in my shed. Will be picking up the forks also from Pat (my painter and sometimes mechanical adviser). When I removed the studs in the lowers they all broke, I tried drilling them and using an easy-out but broke my easy-out inside one of them. The studs had gaulded to the aluminum and my drill press would not hold the forks steady enough for me to drill the whole thing out....... so I had to get professional help. I hated not to do it myself, but.......... hated the thought of ruining those expensive "eyetalian" forks more :'( :'( :'(.......

No, I called my friend Pat ,who has been a bike mechanic for 30 years, and he said to bring them over and he would fix them for me. He also has heli-coils just in case he can't get them out either. I tried two machine shops but neither were interested in doing it....... unless you know someone with a machine shop it is difficult to get any type of small job done where I live.

You lucky dog, I gotta figure out where to get my hands on wrecked bikes, I want a Sport classic soooooo bad, it is a huge inspiration in my build, even though Im building a $300 honda haha. There is a guy in AZ that has a couple Duc 900cc v's on clist for $600 each. It would be badass to make some crazy hybrid cafe. You should put those clear/skeleton belt covers on the V, adds to the look. Just my $0.02

If I had my way I had rather not have this bike...... it belonged to a friend who was murdered by a guy in a Camaro doing over 100MPH. The guy had just taken a half bottle of oxycotin and was out for a ride with his girlfiiend..... flying down a straight away, swerved, and hit three of my friends head on. Two were killed and the third regained control of his bike (he was hit a glancing blow) and was able to go get help. The Ducati is what is left of Ronnie's bike, his wife gave it to me and I am rebuilding it as a tribute to him...... I will have lettering on the seat cowl that says... In memory of Ronnie. Well , enough of the sad shit...... the best way to get bikes is on ebay, if you don't care to travel to get them. I have less than two grand in a couple of my Ducs, which are completed. One is the Paso on my avatar and the other is a really nice Alazzurra SS 650. It doesn't matter how much a bike costs.... it is what you do with it. I have $225 in the BSA pictured earlier in this thread...... it is about a grand away from being finished and it will look like new. Slick paint, clubman bars, gold star exhaust, rebuilt engine, and a humped racing seat. As for the wrecked Duc...... carbon front fender, CR 1/2 fairing w/o headlight hole..... have sourced an auxillary running light which fits perfectly in the oil cooler slot, carbon rear fender, solo tail section with carbon fiber number panels made into the tail. Lots of other carbon and polished aluminum bits. As for the belt cover..... I won't be running one.... but I am thinking about polishing the pulley wheels. I already have all these parts and will be hard at work on it and the GTL as soon as I get some heat in my shed....... and remember...... he who died with the most toys...... is still dead.

Kool bikes...... I especially like the GTV cafe. It is the only parallel twin cafe racer I have ever seen. I don't think they imported the GTV here. Production was very low and they are very rare bikes, as you know. Looks as though you do fine work......

Wow man, I'm sincerely sorry for your loss. I'd almost rather not have a Duc at all than to get one that way... but it will be a fine memorial. Keep up the good work and I'll be watching your builds.

I think he would rather me rebuild it than for it to rot outside like it had been doing for a year. I am going nuts....... temp dropped from the 70s' last week to the 30s' and it is snowing like crazy. I have two complete bikes in my shed and have to move them outside to work...... can't do that in the snow. When the snow clears I will move my two ducs to a garage where some more of my bikes are and get back to it........

Some very nice bikes there! I'm pretty stoked to see what you do with the GTL. And my sincere condolences about Ronnie; it's horrible when anything like that happens, but so much worse when they're doing everything right and just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
