71 CL350 Cafe Time for the build thread![A New Look]

Re: 71 CL350 Cafe Time for the build thread![VIDEO!]

Hurray! A nice cozy place to plant my ass. Not how I originally envisioned it but, I tried the little low profile padding and was like "no fucking way" as far as comfort goes. I liked the look but my nuts could stand it. This bad boy is made from super dense closed cell kayak foam with a trough cut out to place a gel pad (in just the right area) and a cushier top layer. Seeing as I'm planning on riding the shit out of this bike, it needed a good seat.

You don't plan on having any more kids anyway, right? :D

Seriously, it does look pretty comfy.

Maiden Voyage was a success in my book! Took a quick honk around the block and DAMN! She's a beast! Feels great to ride. Got some tweaking to do. I'm burping a bit on the right side, probably needs a valve adjustment. Also it was hard to shift but I think I figured that one out (linkage was attached at a weird angle). All in all, I'm happy so far. Gotta clean her up a bit and have my dad shoot some glamor shots with his Nikon DSLR. 45 is ALIVE!

Looks great! I really like your tank graphics and the exhaust choice.

Sorry I have not posted anything in awhile. The bike has taken on a bit of a new look. I finally got my hands on the tank I wanted. I picked up a CX500 tank from my friend for $50 and the sucker is CLEAN. It'll need paint eventually but I didn't want to rush it just to get the bike on the road. I'll wait til winter when I can take my time and do it nice. I also cut the seat down a bit and fabbed a quick cover. Once again I'll make a better cover this winter when I can take my time. The only thing left for now is to order up some megaphones and mini gauges ( mine are screwy or I'd just leave them). Anyway, here's some pics.

This is a little older, but it was so cute I had to post it. I love how my daughter tells everyone "made daddy makes his own motorcycles".

Opps! What the hell is going on with Flickr? The changed shit and now my photos wont show up!!!

I'd ride it ;)

turne out real nice. I might have missed something, or just be plain stoopid, but can you explain how you ended up mounting that front disk please? I thought you mentioned something about using the original centre (or something??)

cheers
ian

herrdeacan, Thanks man. flickr made some changes and now it's different to paste links for pics. I'll have to figure out what I did wrong.

Ian, yes sir, in an amazing case of good luck the bolt pattern for the ex500 disk lined up perfectly with the cb360 rivets. I ground off the rivets and bolted it right up. Had to flip it to the opposite side, but it worked fine. Thanks for the nice words fellas.

AHHH, looked at the code. It appears flickr has a bug. When you goto share and click on link it leaves out the name of the picture.

Man...I was a little worried regarding the CX tank on such a compact little scoot but that looks fantastic! Really pulls together nicely, how does it feel? Bulky at all?

I'm so stoked that the EX front end worked out so well for you! I have a couple here that are slated for a couple projects...

It fells PERFECT! My knees fit right in the dents. It now looks and feels how I imagined. Thanks for checking it out. I may pull the trigger on some of those cartridge emulators. I have a birthday coming up this week. WOO!

That really is a sweet looking bike,
Nice use of the modern forks.
great job all around.

Thanks Phrige. I loved it before, but with the new set up I'm now in love with it. The forks worked out very well and weren't to hard to marry up. I give swagger the credit for inspiring me to go that route. He posted it as a possible idea in my build thread so I went on eBay to look up candidates. I ended up winning the forks and triples for $5. Thank you swagger. I've ridden dozens of CB350's and the forks plus the cb900 progressive rear shocks make a world of difference. This thing was built with the primary reason to ride the shit out of it. And I plan to.

Great looking bike man! Does it handle nice with the suspension mods? I have some CB900 shocks might try on my 350.

Hey thanks. Here's a more recent shot.

Sorry the pictures a little crappy. I ended up going with slightly shorter shocks. I thought the others were a bit to tall. As far as handling goes, it's amazing. I often forget I'm on a 350.
