'72 CB350 K4 - 'ol no.7 - Swingarm progress

Re: '72 CB350 K4 - 'ol no.7

looks nice under there,. but dont forget that your wheel might need some of that room between the frame rails when your suspension is moving.

Good call, I have the SL shocks set at their lowest setting right now so when I get the seat on I'll bounce around and adjust accordingly, see if that does the trick

Re: '72 CB350 K4 - 'ol no.7

Back from hibernating! Parts finally arrived the other day, including the newly painted seat and tank so I took a half day at work yesterday and buttoned everything back up. After a little tinkering with the carbs and a fresh tank of high octane she ran like a charm! Felt so good to take her around the block a few times, its been well over a year.

Pictures and maybe even a video soon but I do have one minor problemo:

Riding into work today she was running strong from the start but as the engine warmed up, I pretty much lost my low end. Like, nothing. Half-way onto the throttle and it perked up, but as it got warmer, I lost more and more power. I'm running velocity stacks and pretty much open exhaust so maybe I need to re-jet? Main Jets? Slow jets? Never had the need to rejet before so I'm looking for all the advice I can get. Thanks in advance, photos soon I promise!

She's running OK, but needs improvement as mentioned in the previous post. Also need a clutch expert to help with some adjustments. Any takers??

I knew it smelled funny... also, I get to blame you for getting caught in the rain tonight. AND burning my arm on the exhaust while drying her off. Alllllllllllllll because you sat on her before my maiden voyage. Thanks a lot. hahahaha

Holy shit dude, I just finished her today!!!! Glad you like it, I know I'm in love. There's still a bunch of things I want to do but for right now I'm going to get it running like it should so I can enjoy the ride. I cant tell you how dumbfounded I am by a nomination like that. Just motivates me to work on her even more, tomorrow will be a big day...

Thanks guys! Justin, that is the plan!! There's still couple of little things I'd like to do but they can wait, now I just want to ride and enjoy it. Me and Dan (AlmostVintage_GS) took full advantage of the beautiful weather on Saturday and cruised around Philly, got some grub at the Sidecar and the headed over to the Art Museum for a few photos. It was great, looking forward to another ride tonight, God I love this bike...

Re: '72 CB350 K4 - 'ol no.7 - ON THE ROAD!!

So today after work me and Dan got to work on making this dame purr like a kitten ( a very mean, drug overdosed kitten). With the help suggestions of Uniac, I ordered some jets off of SCI which arrived yesterday. 105 main, 70 intermediate. The bike was running like shit, especially after about 10 minutes of warming up so I was hopefull that the carbs were disgusting on the inside... not so. Looked great in the bowl area and even had the 105/70 jets that I had just purchased already in, albeit a bit dirty looking. Replaced the jets anyway and slightly tweaked the float height as it looked a bit off to me. Then flipped them around and checked the slide and vaccuum boot for dirt/problems. Turns out the left side boot was a bit dry-rotted so I swiped a good boot off an extra set of carbs laying around and buttoned them back up.

I had also noticed that my gas tank wasn't venting properly so we took a couple of minutes to drill a hole clean through the gas cap. Problem solved.

Last thing to do ws properly adjust the clutch. I struggled with translating the directions in the Clymer the first time around so having another eye on it help tremedously. Started her up..... completely different motorcycle. This thing runs like a fuckin champ. Don't know which thing actually fixed it, but I dont care. Ran it for about an hour around Philly and it just kept getting better.

So, if you're in the philly area and see a dude with a smile plastered on his face, ripping on the throttle, you know who it is. Cheers, drinks are on me tonight!

That is how life is supposed to be. Glad to hear you're clocking some miles. Any chance of a vid?

Re: '72 CB350 K4 - 'ol no.7 - ON THE ROAD!!

Nice to hear bobert! Be careful with the hole in your gas cap... it is fine if gas won't splash up and out, but with a full tank you might have a little overflow problem. Dirtbikes tent to use a tube to direct it down and out away from any paint or things that might be harmed... just a thought, I would hate to see that nice flat paint get all mucked up from some gas. Anyway, looks amazing, as I am sure you know.

Cheers!
