Re: Rachels, 72 CL100, Clean up

Didnt get a damn thing done on the bike last night. Old lady had a list of crap jobs I had to do around the house. Forced me to dis-assemble and fix drip, drip, dripping shower faucet, Replace basement light switch. (cause the lights wont turn off, boo-hoo, and install new seat on the tractor, "its cracked and pinches my butt" Waaaa. So, got those done!

(WANTED: One old lady whos got her priorities straight)

Got my ass outta bed at 3am this morning. :p

Finished stripping frame, disassembled turn signals...etc.

WTF kinda mickey mouse bullshit is THIS??? gonna have to grab a fresh cup of coffee, light a smoke, sit my ass down, and stare at this for a bit.

11494-300515062812-11421348.jpeg

BTW, this morning I am drinking the most awesome blend ever. A wonderful Custom roast by one of our very own, Giant Robot Co. (Logan) "Rust Revival"

"Roast Revival" get it? Its cute, cause his T shirt business is called "Rust Revival" see what he did there?

"Ethiopian coffee" is my fave. (I dont own a fancy hipster bean grinder. So I dropped it off w my favorite local coffee shop and Grant the store mgr, Ground it for me. He said "Sumatran, is HIS fave"

So, what we got here is a blend of 2 favorites. Its super. Contact Logan and if it hasnt sold out, I bet he would share.

Its even got a picture of a kickstarter w wicked ass lightning bolts on it!

^^^^^^that's cool^^^^^^^^

That throttle setup is ok too. I have the same setup.

Unless you are putting an aftermarket carb and bars on, it will serve you well with the OM setup.

Re: Rachels, 72 CL100, Clean up

Coffee=good :)

got bars stripped, I do plan to keep the stock setup...right now.

11494-300515080001-11451167.jpeg

Re: Re: Rachels, 72 CL100, Clean up

Dude your bike exploded and fell into a pile.......

Sorry I don't.

I'm a cheap/broke dude, so luckily the bars I have has a good cable.

I really haven't ordered much for this bike, all the work so far has been me rebuilding current parts.

Only real new stuff I've done so far is having the cylinder over bored to .50, new piston and ring from overseas.

Haven't been able to get it running yet....lots more needed.

Wish I could help more.

Dude, you been plenty of help. Just got forks apart. Didnt remove the bolts. :D Just having someone visit as Im working is GREAT.

Now make yourself useful and go vote for BOTM. You can vote for your favorite...long as its my 360 ;)

I dont know why they are in there. Forks should never even touch em. Unless they are bottomed out all the way. IDK???

Anyways, just gonna pour some cleaner in there and let em soak and flush em as best I can. Polish or epoxy lowers,(havent even thought about that yet, lol) and toss the new seals in.

Now its time for a sit down smoke and a fresh cup of joe...next is brakes.

Re: Rachels, 72 CL100, Clean up

Holy cow! I was headed in the house for a shower, breakfast and a nap.

Denny calls and tells me, "He got the blaster fixed up, be there in 15 minutes." LOL

Tossed everything in the car. And hauled ass out to the farm.

11494-300515123609-11461453.jpeg

Every part except front rim, rear fender and frame. He had to take off to a wedding. So, looking at Monday, after work.

11494-300515123609-114839.jpeg

Now I am ready for a shower, lunch and a nap.

I got to go get some paint! ::)

Re: Re: Rachels, 72 CL100, Clean up

wow......wish I had a blaster around to do that...............stuff looks good though.

all of my general rust removal is done by me with soaking in vinegar for a coupla days and doing the best I can with sanding.

Sprayed the frame with paint remover, let sit for a while, then spray down with jet stream of water, blow dry, repeat......did that at least 5 or six times, went thru 3 cans of paint remover.

Then primed and painted, all whilst hanging on a tree limb.

Hence the slogan, shade tree mechanic.

Forks look just like mine, cept purdier...........

Re: Rachels, 72 CL100, Clean up

This was a big day for the little bike. :D

Ha yes!

OK its 3am...again :p

just for fun I am messing w LEDs.

Deviant turned me onto these at the Spring Thaw. Snowmobile LED headlights. Labeled as 12v 3w they seem to work great w 6v system. maybe TOO great. ::)

I saw them working on his 6v Honda 175 as supplements to his headlight. They were nice and bright from a distance 50-100 feet, on his bike during the daylight hours. :D

Got me thinking, They are small enough, maybe I could fit these as pairs inside Rachels brake/tail and parking/turns.

So, I got a bunch and testing them out.

These things may be TOO FREAKIN BRIGHT for this. How bright? PAINFUL, it hurts to look directly at them. They are like a camera flash that never shuts off. Arrrrgh! I may have to try to tone them down by painting a yellow or red or even a black spot on the lens.

They are sweet little things. And they aren't really cheap. So, I want to make em work...without pissing people off.

11494-310515032135.jpeg

Of course the pics dont really do these RETNA BURNING BASTARDS JUSTICE. Its actually painfull to look at in person.

I set ONE up behind the Amber turn signal lens. They actually shine white.

SINGLE LED, SHOP LIGHTS ON. Camera flash OFF.

11494-310515030303-11492271.jpeg

Lights out

11494-310515030303-1153736.jpeg

Lights out, camera flash on.

11494-310515030303-1154930.jpeg

If one is too bright...Imagine following THIS!!!

Re: Rachels, 72 CL100, Clean up

Hahahaha. That's good stuff, man. Did you see my post about the other cheap 6v led I got?

http://www.12vmonster.com/collections/lighting-6-volt-led-light-bulbs-dc-12v-24v-lamps

I took apart the one they list as a 6v-30v T6 R4 LED light bulb emergency fishing lamp. I'm sure there are sources somewhere out there for just the bulb part. I got for $15, so it was worth it to me to get the whole unit and take it apart.

There are also these...

One thing I have, unfortunately, figured out is that they all come from China.

Re: Rachels, 72 CL100, Clean up

You need to recheck compression now it's been running. I'll bet rings have freed up ;)

Ill consider that...just as soon as its running/riding again. ::)

This morning I tore front and rear brakes down...wanting to polish these, fugly. Maybe settle for epoxy. :p

11494-010615053130-11611225.jpeg

Now on the other hand. I spent 5 minutes sanding the lowers for epoxy. But, just for fun. Applied the 3 minute polish job...

Ok it was only 2 minutes. But if they were "properly" sanded for a "proper" polishing, they might not be too bad.

Re: Re: Rachels, 72 CL100, Clean up

^^^^^^dayyyum^^^^^^^

Not bad for 2 minutes work.

Re: Rachels, 72 CL100, Clean up

Hmmm, not going to say anything about hand jobs ;D

Re: Rachels, 72 CL100, Clean up

Looking good!

Pretty jealous of your clean parts pile. I did all the paint removal and stripping by hand on my 360. Dragged on foreverrrrrr (still have a couple of things to strip -__-) but I'm too cheap to pay someone $200 to sandblast all that crap.

Those LEDs are badass. I have a Lucas style tail light I'm looking to swap over to an LED. thinking of buying a cheap LED trailer tail light and swapping out the actual lights, will have to browse some of those links ^^
