Re: '74 CB360 cafe project - (The Green Meanie isn't quite finished yet!)

VM26 will work on a 200cc cylinder, and support around 25+bhp (or a 50bhp 400cc twin)
I've had 26 and 28's on my 391cc motor, stuck with the 26's
VM28 is plenty big enough.

Any idea of the correct manifold boot size? I still need to pickup a pair haven't even taken measurements or looked at options yet.

I need to get a couple of the choke kits so that I can set these up for a cable actuated choke... they are both left side choke.

Re: '74 CB360 cafe project - (The Green Meanie isn't quite finished yet!)

Probably a CL 350?

I'd like to see how you set that up, need to do the same thing!

It's snowing here today. :( I fired up a heater in the garage and got out and started pulling stuff off in prep for my new mods...

Anyone interested in a set of fully rebuilt / modded carbs (CrazyPJ did the rebuild and mods) with Uni Pods and a set of new Intake Boots and a nifty Trek97 inspired support bracket? Make me an offer... These CV carbs are just over my head I don't know how to deal with them well... I'm going Mikuni for simplicity and performance.

Tore out the wiring in the electrical tray.

Then I chopped down a new fuse block from 6 to 4 fuses. I opted for this style since it has the B+ rail.

I haven't done several, but mine kicks ass.

I got out in the garage after work today and tore down the top end in prep for the 378 mod. Pistons are on the way... My new intake boots came today for the vm-28s. :) and I go tomorrow to pick up my next bike project.

GS850 pistons came today, I gave them a quick scrub with a Brillo pad. I'm going to try to get the cylinder to the machinist this week. 378 whopping CCs here I come. ;-)

A little bit of inspiration? It should look like this:

Re: '74 CB360 cafe project - (The Green Meanie isn't quite finished yet!)

I ordered some 360 carb diaphragms from JBM Industries last week.
Don is going to be making CB360 intake manifolds soon.
It may be worthwhile contacting him to see if he can make them with VM internal size?
I just e-mailed him to ask if it's possible

I actually ended up ordering these. They are a made for the vm28 and mate right up on the cb360.

Short too, should be able to hang the vm28 on there without much worry of it working loose or drooping.

Re: '74 CB360 cafe project - (The Green Meanie isn't quite finished yet!)

If you decide to go with a hot cam at some point, a long manifold will be an advantage.

If it comes to that, I will make some aluminum spacers to run in between the head and boot to lengthen the intake.

Re: '74 CB360 cafe project - (The Green Meanie isn't quite finished yet!)

Just picked up my freshly bored cylinder from the machinist over lunch... had a nice, quick turn around on getting bored out. I'll get the top end back together this weekend and try to get the carbs and 2-1 cable made up. I also recieved my Electronic ignition from Viet yesterday... I'll work and get the module installed and wired. Then spend my free time next week getting the re-wiring completed. Maybe I'll be back up and running by the end of next weekend. :)

Re: '74 CB360 cafe project - (The Green Meanie isn't quite finished yet!)

That's always a damn good feeling. :)

Don' forget to recheck all your clearances and spin the motor (by hand) a few times prior to kicking it.

Re: '74 CB360 cafe project - (The Green Meanie isn't quite finished yet!)

If you haven't sold the stock carbs it may be easier to break in top end with them before messing with the VM's?
You may need a larger secondary main jet though (115~125)

Yep, I seem to remember you having some clearance issues with your shaved down head previously. Don't want to bang up a valve. (I do have an extra set thankfully)

I still have them... I'm going to make an attempt to get the VMs running though. I have to do a bit of fabrication with the cable and fitting the new right hand control... I'm not listing the carbs for sale until I am for sure running good with the VMs and new ignition, I ordered a NOS advance mechanism too... Thing ought to run like an absolute dream.

Did you receive the Viet "2.0" update version? Wango had a clearance issue w version "1" the plate was too thick.
