'74 CB360 cafe project - (New clutch springs and back to analog gauges.)

Re: '74 CB360 cafe project - (Calling it done!)

dont get much better than this.

Re: '74 CB360 cafe project - (Calling it done!)

99% great. But please lower the front fender and contour its edges properly, it looks way unfinished compared to the rest of the bike.

Re: '74 CB360 cafe project - (Calling it done!)

Bike looks great! I would have to agree with Hallin that front fender needs to go down more for sure, looks weird with that much space between the tire.

Re: '74 CB360 cafe project - (Calling it done!)

hey man i love the bike!!! did you mention how you attached the seat cushion to the pan? btw- this is gonna be the inspiration for my cb500!

Re: '74 CB360 cafe project - (Calling it done!)

Really like the new pics, 'flat' lighting shows the detail far better than sunlight (not so good if your selling but much better for critique ;D )
I guess the only thing would be the speedo, personally I would mount it lower plus further forward to fill up space by headlight
I have nothing more to say 8)

Velcro baby! It's not going anywhere.

I actually turned a couple of spacers on my buddy's lathe to do just that... but the speedo connector is in the way. I'm going to have to go a different route with the mounting... I'll probably end up doing a flat bracket which will end up putting it just where you are suggesting. But that's for April/May... along with getting the thing running as it should... still not more than 70% happy with it. I may end up with a set of VM28s and Electronic Ignition before it's over.

I could sense there would be a carb change coming sooner than later. Thats what I figured you had been up to, because you have been quiet here lately.

Yeah, something just isn't right... I think as soon as it's tolerable to be in the garage.. (COOOLD here, but you know that... neighbor.)

As of right now, I'm going to do a carb swap for the VM28 flat slides with a cable operated choke (If I'm going to dump in more money, might as well get some performance gains.. ), and simplify the wiring chopper style... Probably will replace the hand controls to just turns, Hi-Lo beam and a kill switch... redo the Speedo mount... Don't know if I'll do the electronic Ignition, (Pamco, I think they have the CB360 one sorted out, never got a response from my last email... :-\ )

I'd like to get it wrapped up early enough to get it to some shows... it's gotta be running right though before I will.

I might look into going to 378cc if I run across a good deal on pistons and rings... but that's not priority at the moment.

Re: '74 CB360 cafe project - (Calling it done!)

Well, I'm about to get back on this project and get it sorted out for the spring. I've got a pair of Mikuni VM28 Flat slides on the way. I'm going to replace the stock right hand throttle housing with a simple run/off + Starter button and a separate throttle housing. That'll help out when I do the wiring simplification.

I'm researching my Electronic Ignition options too... (Pamco, Bore-Tech, Viet)

Keep an eye out for GS850 pistons. They're a straight swap and +2mm bigger (in diameter/bore) than the stock 360 pistons.

Definitely, I keep looking passively on eBay but never see when I look... There's a not so desireable head with a set of pistons on there now for $57 shipped... :/

If anyone has a line on a pair let me know, I'd definitely be up for a pair or splitting a quad with another CB360 modder.

Re: '74 CB360 cafe project - (Calling it done!)

There's a guy selling the pistons and jugs right now. I just messaged him about the pistons. I want a set, but the other two are yours if you wanna go halves.

I'd go in for a split on those.

'74 CB360 cafe project - (The Green Meanie isn't quite finished yet!)

New goodies came today, pair of Mikuni vm28 flat slides (thanks Matt) grips, throttle housing switch housing. I'm going to give one of the Kohler rectifier/regulators a try too when minimize the wiring. Have a pair of GS850 pistons coming for the 378cc mod.

Im in to see how well the 378cc mod goes.

It goes well, I've done several ;D

Re: '74 CB360 cafe project - (The Green Meanie isn't quite finished yet!)

Is the 22cc increase going to effect the vm28 performance?
OR is the vm28 sized for the 378?
OR is the vm28 suitable for both 356 & 378cc?

I hope so, I asked around to the motorheads I work with and found a competent machinist to to the cylinder bore. I'm counting on you and Matt to help me through.

From what my meager understanding of carbs can gather from all the tidbits on the net, the VM28 should be near ideal up to 200+cc per cylinder... with the right jetting should be able to deliver enough fuel through the entire range.

Correct me if I'm wrong CrazyPJ.
