74 CB360 City Bike

I am really inspired by the progress you have made on your 360. I also have a 74 360 and trying to sort out the battery situation as I would love to put on stacks but the battery is in the way. Were you able to figure out a good place for it? I was thinking about rotating the battery housing but not sure about the fit. Would love to hear about your current progress.

Cheers,

You can't really run stacks or pods with the stock battery holder, a lot of people put the battery on the swing arm or buy a smaller one and hide it under the seat or in a slimmer fabricated box.

Did a little bit of stuff this weekend during a snow day. I mounted my battery box...again. Had to flip it 90 degrees for pod clearance. I managed to retro fit it for use with the existing frame tabs. Here's how I did it:

I also ditched my stock rectifier and regulator for the Kohler Combo:

Got my header wrap going my way. Somehow, the 15ft roll was just enough. Barely. I'd buy a bigger roll if I did another set to do

are you welding the bolts onto the pan?
what's your plan to make sure the handles dont rattle off?

This handsome devil came in the mail today. Bates-style tail light. Mini-version of the headlight I'm running. I guess that makes me the master of bates-style lighting.

Never thought this day would actually get here. It feels good to have power. I've gone through every wire and the only thing giving me trouble is the horn and a loose hi beam switch.

Taillight is on. Peel and stick special, but I dig it cause it's minimal like everything else in DTT land.

I also slapped a license mount on just for show. And for the law.

Here's a quick shot of the fuel petcock. I decided to refurbish the OEM. Also went ahead and connected the fuel lines. Basic black and I bought those really cool retro in-line filters from Dime City but they're too large so they'll be returning.

I've already ditched the tail light you speak of for the bates style one. That one was too good to be true. However, I may leave it as a marker light. It came from Dimecity.

What prep did you do before you got your rims powder coated? Were any parts of them nicked or and gouges? Did the chrome have to be fully removed before paint?

Thanks in advance.

Completely disassemble and sandblast the chrome off. That's pretty much it. The powder will hide a lot of the dings. Most powdercoating businesses also do blasting.

Okay thanks man. crazypj recommended brazing the gouge but I think it would be best to strip the chrome then fix the gouge from there.
P.S. - your thread is a great example that this stuff takes time and money if you do it the right way, and so far you are doing it the right way.

Well, if he said brazing is the way to go, then I'd say that's the ticket.
Thank you, thats good to hear. I've always been a little OCD. This bike is just therapy.

Final reveal before a breath of life. It's been over 2 years since I started this project. The end is near.

This a great detailed thread of how to build a bike! Great job with the bike, it's coming out amazing. I can only hope my bike looks half as good as your bike is looking.

Beaut! Nice simple and clean; this is how to do a custom CB at home in the shed, well done!

Ticks all my boxes and makes me want to hunt down an old CB to play with when my beemer's done.
