Re: 360 beer rack for the War Pig

Since its an "Ye olde time" styled thing. I figured some olde time styled pics... ::)

inspiration for this...BTW thanks a lot sleventy9r for starting the card thread. And I also blame you iatethepeach. For encouraging this project.

The more I looked the more I liked. And ya know, I already got a pair of vintage BSA clips for the front fender tag, sitting here....HMMMM.

Good, just between us it made my whole day too! I just love f#@king w this old bike. :)

OK now, for phase two of the "Tobacco card" mod.

Cut a template out of cardboard. and I got these NOS BSA fender tag clips, and a piece of 1/16th thick scrap aluminum.

I would prefer to use plastic. But I aint gonna chop up my $20 black powder ammo box. Just for this...

The reason I want plastic over aluminum...If I ever did hit a pedestrian. I think plastic would be less likely to cut a friggen leg off.

Nice. A set of leather panniers are practically obligatory at this point.

Thats what Im talking bout! I told the old lady...Shea sked if I wanted them zippered or snaps...I said velcro would be fine. Like the cheap bag on my headlight.

In reality it will be 100 years before I make into town to actually get the vinyl. ::)

Re: 360 beer rack for the War Pig

If you call your local plastic supply place they should be able to give you 12"x12" ABS samples for free. If you need a larger piece, I could send you some. The only problem with mine might be it's textured on one side. I bought a 4'x8' sheet recently and used it to make interior panels for my truck.

HA, I had no idea there even WAS such a thing as a plastic supply place! I dont get out much!

The aluminum piece is 8x8 so I tell you what...If you got a piece of black plastic...Ill swap you a brand new center stand rubber button...even steven.

Re: 360 beer rack for the War Pig

Cool! I miss my center-stand!

The ABS sheet is 1/8" thick (and black). Will that work? I won't be able to send it until next weekend, unfortunately.

Re: 360 beer rack for the War Pig

My ABS came from ThyssenKrupp, btw. If you don't want to wait around, use their company name as a starting point for an ABS supplier in your area.

Thanks bro ! I know theres something wrong w me. Ive learned, When the mood strikes. I gotta get shit done fast...before the mood passes and I am sitting on my butt again. lol. I work in 30 minute bursts of bust ass. w a 1 hour coffee break and maybe a nap between.

Just got to break down a single BIG project into lots of little tasks. If I look at the whole thing at once, I tend to get overwhelmed and wont start anything.

So I just cut the first tube and welded it. break. Next three tubes and welded, break. Clean them up...keep going. With the ultimate goal of NAPPING while the epoxy dries.

Re: 360 beer rack for the War Pig

Thank god its centered nice and straight.

Im kinda digging it...Be that much better once its sprayed black.

Re: 360 beer rack for the War Pig

Seeing it with the rack, I think the length (of the swing arm) and lines of the bike all fit now. It needed that rack the whole time. I'm liking this bike so much more as an early 20th century vintage runner. I still wish the seat were more like those early bikes, but at this point it hardly matters. Awesome.

thanks bud that means a lot. And I feel exactly what your sayin. But Ive seen to many guys try the "solo saddle" on these 70s hondas (long flat frame rails)...and it just flat out does not work.

Well theres this one...it really suits it. But it would be killer uncomfortable unless you had really REALLY short legs.

Re: 360 beer rack for the War Pig

Makes sense. Those early bikes have such a long tank, it puts the seat further back. Plus, I learned with the XL that being able to slide back and forth on the seat is a really good advantage.

Re: 360 beer rack for the War Pig

Yep, I already talked w mobious bout a longer tank to fit the 100, for a solo seat. Ive been noticing some of the Yamahas have pretty long narrow tanks. That might work well for this.

I also raised the tail light a half inch. So it ties stuff in even better now.

Give me a couple minutes and I will post another pic...lol

Re: 360 beer rack for the War Pig

HERE YA GO...LOL

Picked this seat up just for fun, to see it on the 100. Like the one in the pic, above.

Sad thing is..I see a bike like this every time I look at craigslist....

How could anyone fool themselves into thinking this is a good look. LOL, Uber Stupid. :p
