Again, been a long while since I have posted, but I am still working on this bike. She is now running and rideable. Got a few pinhole leaks in the gas tank that I am in the middle of reparing. Also, the fork seals are blown from sitting around so long. Other than that, she will be good to go once i tear her apart, prep, and paint

let me know what y'all think

looks great!
for that extra chain slack a skate wheel placed up under the front bottom run of the chain will help a lot

but with the extra swinger angle the chain will be more slack than stock,at full droop
you cant just use the same chain slack measurement now

This has been taken into consideration already. Yes, the extra angle of the swingarm does cause additional tightness on the top, and some slack on the bottom, but under compression(while riding the bike) all is good

sounds like you dont understand the concept
to get a baseline setting for chain tension, the swinger pivot, axle and cs sprocket all in a straight line
that is the tightest point go too tight damage can result

no, I understand the concept. As the swingarm moves through its range of motion, the tension on the chain changes. Statically sitting, one should see about an inch to 1 and 1/4 inch of free play in the chain when measured between the two sprockets on the bottom run of the chain. As the suspension is compressed, the chain will invariably tighten, to a point, and then as the suspension further compresses, the chain will then loosen a bit. Ideally, on a stock bike, the pivot points are generally linear to each other, or at least close to being so, so the chain is adjusted at this point, allowing enough slack so when the suspension is compressed(which on most bikes brings the pivot points into actual alignment)the chain does not get over tight.

As my bike sits, the chain is adjusted just a tiny bit on the loose side to compensate for the tightening that will and does occur when the suspension is compressed. Even loaded, the chain on this bike is not over tight( as had been tested with a 175lb person sitting on the bike while I measured free play on the chain. No doubt, a roller mechanism of some type in the location you described would certainly help, and it is an option I have investigated, and may still go with.

my point was the only way to be sure is to check it like I outlined
it keeps getting tighter until the straight line centers aligned
most all factory stock bikes actually travel through the centerline and the chain loosens up past that, as did yours
it looks like you have more travel than stock ?

possibly a bit more travel, but not by much, if at all. It is also substantially stiffer than stock, so the suspension, when ridden does not compress nearly as much as it used to

then it is not set up properly, not even close
try to get it setup for proper rider sag, static sag etc get the springing and damping right, loose that second shock and you may have as good a set up or possibly better than stock was

Is the Suzuki lettering on the tank vinyl, or emblems, or painted? You really created a whole new beast with this thing, awesome bike.

How does it ride? I wouldn't mind hearing the exhaust. Great looking bike, well done.
Cheers, 50gary

It actually rides quite well, and sou8nds pretty cool too. The exhaust is pretty much open all the way back, although it is not too loud:)

Suzuki emblem on the side is vinyl lettering under the clearcoat

could you use some mandrel bent 90s to do that exhaust? To me - the crush bent pipes look really really out of place.

Great build - just my two cents.

EDIT: I saw your response on page 4

yeah, that was the original plan, but at this point in time the guy I am building it for is happy with it the way it is, so i am just going to leave it alone
