theres a good post here with specific instructions on diagnosing the cb650.

hope that helps clear a few things up.

That definitely helps, I've read many times that the stator rarely fails, it's the rotor and R/R that go. I don't want to drop $100 bucks on a stator if I don't have to.

It was the rotor. Got the new one in today and decided to throw it on while I waited for the new rectifier to come in tomorrow. I couldn't wait so I gave it a try and boom, held her at 5k and it read 14.6 across the battery. Took her out for a spin, came back and no change. I'll still carry my extra battery and rectifier with me in my pack just in case but now it's time for some good DSLR shots and off to get jetted and tuned.

Been riding around as much as possible, weather permitting. Can't wait till some extra funds come in for a proper tune

Finally got around to solving some wiring. I was able to successfully splice the Kawi controls into the Honda harness. I also tried to lubricate the throttle cables a bit to try and help with somie throttle stick but it didn't really help.

Err...yeah.

WTF is with that?

I need to get another banjo bolt to block off the right side caliper at the splitter. The original wheel was a dual disc, the wire is only one.

Why not just replace put a single hose between the master cylinder and single brake caliper and do away with the splitter?

I'd like to do a fork swap eventually. I find it cheaper and easier to get a banjo bolt.

I haven't posted in a while but here is where the bike is at as it sits. New seat, tank painted, single caliper, I got a biltwell gringo and ive just been riding the hell out of it. I might have a chance to pick up a KZ750 twin for free. It hasn't ran in a little bit but it was daily ridden not too long ago. Maybe do a hardtail bobber? Thoughts?

How are they to work on? Parts available?

I have a 79' (B model) and an 81' (M model). My sig has the build thread I'm doing on my B.

Pretty simple and parts are very available. The starter clutch is a common issue but easy to fix.

This one is a 79'. Looked at it today and it's pretty rough, might have a leak at the headgasket.
