'81 CB750C "Rock-It" (X-Basket Case)

Ha-Ha-HA! Good question Autotek... When I see a sane man, I'll ask him.
I been up since 3:00... already been out to the shop, damn insomniac that I am.

Well, I'm committed... or rather should be.
First wheel first side. Two coats of the regular "Premium Zip-Strip" barely phased it, so out came the Aircraft Stripper. Ahhhh much more better.

Not planning on painting a color... not a fan of clearcoat paint... still on the fence on clear powder coating.
Guess we will see how the stripping turns out. :-X

I got my clubman set like that from Alphamoto on ebay. Just finished the whole thread. Man what a deal on this thing. Keep the the great work.

These handle bar clamp / top triple are also the fuse block. I don't think it would look right with clip-ons... no matter how bad I want them. I am thinking either clubmans or straight dragbar "broomsticks". Depending on how the fairing lines up. But these are on my "watch list" on e-bay...

Your top clamp looks different than my '79 clamp though I still have the fuse block on top. It's kind of a alien looking module sitting up there all blocky and everything. I went with a set of billet clip-ons I found on fleabay. Made in the P.I. I'm just a clip-on guy, I guess.

that's the difference between the C and K top clamps. they are interchangeable. I changed mine to a K top clamp fuse block.

Yeah, I think the K model is more square shaped than my C. I thought about picking up a small 4 fuse block, extending the leads and putting it in the headlamp bucket or some such. Then using standard handlebar clamps to tidy it up a bit. But then there's the ignition switch.... Ah the fun of it all!
Figured as long as I was polishing, I'd hit both pieces at the same time so they match.

I think I still have my standard handlebar clamps laying around somewhere if you are in need. I'm going with a CNC'd billet top tree, so no need for them.

Thanks Silky... I'll let you know if I decide to go that route!
Spent the shop time this week working on the wheels. Got them completely stripped of all black. I like the looks of them more than original the way they set now, but this week I'll be hitting them with the buffing compound...Then we'll see what you guys think. 8)

sand, sand, sand....polish, polish, polish....
And that is just on outter portions of the rear! I have come to compromise in just doing sections instead of the entire wheel. Imagine it being only the verticle portions of the "rim" and "spokes" when it's mounted that are polished, while the rest is raw aluminum. Seems a cop-out I know but it does have a nice contrast to me.
It's getting about time to hit it with some Mothers and see how it looks. Then, if acceptable then I'll move onto the front. (whew)

HI mate yup i know that feelin gees was at it for days would have been quicker to take all the spokes out guess the look now was worth it use so much autosol will buy in bulk next time haha good luck gonna keep my little boots off the road authorities here in the UK love to spread lots of crappy rocksalt on the roads in winter it eats ya wheels for a snack that stuff heres lookin to fine weather cheers
