81 CX500 yes, it's true, I lied. Build #5

Trying to keep out of trouble

So I did it, it runs and it runs well thank you VERY much. No noise, no smoke and goes through the gears smoothly. I am going to change it up compared to the other CX build but not by much.

The CX500's are great bikes. I just finished a build on one, and the owner has now committed to $1,500 more worth of work.

Did that bike just change colors?

Different cameras, different light. Same bike as I threw that seat cover in the trash right after I gave her the cash..

Yep. Finished the rest of the build last Saturday. The guy has been riding it all over. Stops by the shop 2-3 times a day and gushes about how much he loves it and how much attention it gets.

And a fine piece of work it is, carry on young man..

Thank you.
I should do a build thread. Been working on that bike for like a year. Started out as being a couple repairs and maybe paint. Then it took on a life of its own.

Looking better already! Was it a "SilverWing?... I tagged along on your first build so I might as well watch this one. :)

The badge reads CX500 Deluxe so no Silverwing.
It was odd riding away for the first time as opposed to the trailer.
Welcome aboard as I am sure you will have valuable information to share.

you can do away with the air i just get a brass plug to remove the air fittings and done even change the end fitting

Like that plan, thanks.

Progressive springs are always a good choice, and it includes cutting a pre-load spacer to get the correct tension on your springs.

Took the frame to the welder who did the welding on the 78 CX last week. With the last project fresh in his mind this should rather painless this go around. Engine cleaned and ready to paint.
