Brakes rebuilt, carbs cleaned, fender mounted. This thing run great with the carbs cleaned and a simple bench sync. The electrics are a mess of snot and old electrical tape. I will be pulling it all out next and getting it ready for the new lights.
Yesterday was productive. I got the electrics pulled and cleaned. The battery box will get a fresh coat of gloss black paint before it goes back on. It took me awhile to figure out the wiring because the previous owner had cut or bundled everything he didn't need, i.e. turn signals.
Also, I bought this 82 CB 900F for $450 off of Craigslist! The guy said he was selling it because there was a major fuel leak and he didn't know what was causing it, but he hadn't bothered to take the tank off cause he was planning on selling it anyway cause he needed the money for school. If he had taken the tank off ,he would have seen that the in-line fuel filter had become loose and the hose clamp was gone.
they are very cool bikes that very few people know the potential of so you can pick them up very cheap and very cool. you should do some USD forks on that one and modern brembo, nissin, or tociko brakes it would look stellar
Good News. The new handlebar is in and mounted. I took the headlight off for painting and lowering. I also, took the fender off for painting. Let me know what you think. I don't like the mirrors...
??? Looking for some advise on how to lower the handlebars. After looking at them on, I'd like to lower the profile line even with (or at least close) to the top of the tank line. Please provide any suggestions you may have... I'm thinking clip-ons right now, but they are kinda expensive and I just got this one so I'd like to use it. I was also thinking of using the fork top from the other bike I have and turning it upside down...
Need your help here.
Thanks in advance
are those risers or are they cast in the the upper trees? what MM are your forks? that sometimes you can get clip ons wicked cheap! i know clip ons i got where 20 bucks off a FZR, they are everywhere!
only way to run a shorter riser, is going to be to mill out the top tree, to accept a 7/8 bolt riser and bushing... even that the closest you can get it is 1/2 in above the tree.
Thank you for the suggestion. I've been thinking on it all day and this is really a tricky one. I really think it is something that must be done though. I want the profile low and mean. If you have anymore ideas, don't hesitate...
HELL NO!!!! they are filled with fork oil, spring, spacers... that is impossible...actually if i am not mistaken doesnt the 900 have air compression front forks? you can drill though the top tree after you cut and grind off the stock risers
