Went over the entire thread and modified some of my previous posts. This project has spanned some two years now and those same two years have personally been turbulent, as a result plans get changed.
No rest for the wicked. Even though its the holidays doesn't mean you can't get some shop time.
Masked off the frame and made a tail section out of Polyurethane foam (not completely finished in the first photo) then draped fiberglass cloth over an poored on some resin. The seat is longer so I can scoot back and forth for better riding in different conditions. The knee cutouts on the tank weren't wide enough so the back of the tank got narrowed, as well as some other fiberglass bits.
X Tail section molded and fiberglassed
X Sidecover mounting points glassed
X Tank mounts glassed
X Tank rear section, knee dents, narrowed.
I love it! Absolutely love it! I am a huge fan of rotary engines and cafes so this is right up my alley. I am also a Dane although 3rd generation born in America hope to one day get to Copenhagen and see if I can find our old family farm and make great grandpa Tarvel proud
Thanks all!
Reinforced the edges of the seat, added mounting bracketry to the inside of the tank, bonded the two halves and sealed it with Caswell. Sanded down the joins and wheeled her outside to clean of the worst of the dust.
X Add internal mounting points to tank
X Bond tank halves together
X Seal with Caswell
Yeah, I'm sure that will take care of it! All the bultaco guys use caswell on their fiberglass tanks.
Also, there is a website out there, pure-gas.org that tells you all the ethanol free gas stations in your area
I cant wait to see how this turns out!
Loving this bike.... Wish it was on the same side of the ocean as me to see it in person when finished.... I do have to say, that's about the most convenient placement of a drain I've ever seen..... Is that what sold you the house. ;D
