A few words.

Thanks man, and that means a lot. To be honest, this thread in particular has really made me realize how much I just wish we all lived within 30 minutes of eachother. I've come to the conclusion that I am pretty alienated around here, and it really can get to me just being by myself and stuck inside of my own head. I have relied on DTT for a while now as an oasis from that and a little bit of an escape to a world that I wish were the way things really were in real life. I think about the kinship and the brotherhood that I have shared with so many of you, and the overall selfless nature of things around here. I think that the world at large could use a healthy dose of "lend a helping hand" and the daily vitamin sulpliment of a venue of expression. Like has been said many times in this post, I refuse to watch the pseudo utopian society made real by this forum and you guys fade into something more superficial and meaningless, and thanks to all of you who posted, I realize that it is far from being there. It's really good to read this stuff fellas....really good.

I feel that. I too am tucked in a remote corner of the world. Maritime is farther though!

Kiley, I'm glad you're feeling better my friend....being bummed both sucks AND blows....neither in a good way.

Makr: These are my final words on this, lest this turn into a pointless bitch session. However I'm compelled to respond yet again.
3 posts does not a rapport create.
rapport - a relationship of mutual understanding or trust and agreement between people
resonance
kinship
affinity
a close connection marked by community of interests or similarity in nature or character; "found a natural affinity with the immigrants"; "felt a deep kinship with the other students"; "anthropology's kinship with the humanities"
If I said you needed a sock in the pus, it was likely because you did. I rarely ever say shit like that just for fun. In this case I have no memory of it, but if you'd like to point out the instance we can examine in in detail. Likely I'll stand firm. Gods help you if we'd been face to face and I'd felt the need to express those impulses. Likely as not you said something shitty about women or someone I feel a kinship towards.

I believe I thanked you fairly for your assistance with the measurement, but if not to your satisfaction let me thank you once again. Thanks.

Again in the words of Mr.Land Speed Record HoofHearted: "you do it all to yourself"
The Dahlia Lama (IIRC): To be loved one must be love
My Mom: If you're going ot be a turd, go lay in the grass.
(mom's tough and bakes a damn fine cookie to boot)

To all: My faith in this group has wavered but never failed, we have somehow and against the odds created a fine, supportive and resourceful collective that has the best interests of it's members and this pursuit firmly held to the fore.

I have an affinity to you all, we've created a rapport but if Mike wants to give me another of those 'after a case of beer' hugs I might need therapy! HA!

Well said Swag, well said.

And for the record, I liked my beer hug from Mike.....but not so much as I liked that entire night as a whole. Man, what good memories!!!!!! Mike in a chair....Mike on the ground....Mike by a tree....Mike inside in a chair....hahaha! Mike, we love you buddy!

I knew I went to bed too early that night. I only got to see half of that! Ha ha and yes Kiley I also feel isolated this time of year. None of my buddies wrench and very few ride. If I couldn't come on here to get my bike fix in the winter I would be in a sad state. To top that off my wife is away from Monday morning to Friday night in another town just trying to make enough to pay the basic bills. It really sucks. I miss you guys, and I got a lottery ticket tonight, the draw is 23 million and if by some luck of the gods I win, I will be funding one big GTG someplace warm for all my friends. I'm thinking for a month with a bunch of tools, old bikes, and beer! Or maybe I'll win enough just to get some paint for the bike.

Dammit fellas... I had to work that morning, and had been up since 5am! Add loading/unloading the bikes, the 3hr drive, and approx. 20 beers... I was a little out of it! Ernest fuckin' Hemmingway woulda passed out too! ha ha ha ha ha ha

Hey mike, that's ok I passed out too, just went to bed to do it! Oh yeah and you didn;t fall asleep standing up next to the truck. I wouldn;t have believed I could do that if I didn't see the pic.

Wow!! 17 pages in just a few days?? "A Few Words" doesn't seem to describe this thread!! 8)

Long timers: Hang in there! :D

Newbies: Stick with it! :D

Thanks for the thoughts everyone! This is a good place! 8)

I have to be honest here. I was very close to not doing a GTG at my place this year. With the growing dtt population I was becoming a little concerned that it would be unmanageable. In todays world almost anything can happen. People have lost their homes to lawsuits etc, or worse. Not to mention the work it requires to take care of a lot of guest. I know my wife did atleast three loads of towels every single day just to give us something to dry off with. My mother cooked lasagna and a huge batch of biscuits and gravey (that I reheated one too many times..so sorry) my neighbor prepaired a cook out at his expense and allowed us to use his place for a day. My garage was open to everyone and so were my tools. My house was open to anyone that wanted to use it. All of these people I'd never meet and I know most of them didn't know one another other than bs ing here on dtt. All I can say is i had the time of my life. Not one dish broke, no one left with hurt feelings (well maybe one well deserving HD guy we won't mention, hehe). Anyhow I have lifetime friendship with every single person that walked through my door. I know many, if not all of you who were here can say that. I cried, I'll admit it (and I know many of us did) when we all parted ways. It was an epic journey and I think every single one of us has a positive story to tell from it. You all are a class act and I'm truley not worty. I may not say it or show it but I love and appreciate all of you!
This thread gave me a renewed sense of hope in many ways. We have to do it again! Great ready for DTT West Virginia Back To the Hills GTG 2011. If you've not seen the following, trust me it does not do justice. I dont think we ever managed to get a picture of the entire group that was here. Every day the numbers grew. What an epic time!
DTT Get Together

God damn that makes me miss you guys so much. Come the fuck on summer time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like it was a truly good time. Did I even see Louie's bike in there?

That's awesome.

Glad you are having your GTG Troy! I am still wanting/planning to be there. My project has slowed as life has gotten in the way. We are expecting our 1st child this June, so I have been busy working on the never ending honey-do list.

This site keeps me going. When I want to just throw the towel in, I get on here and read other's builds and get inspired. I have talked to many people on this site and can't wait to put names with faces. I strongly disagree with comments made that this is closed circle group. I believe it is the exact opposite. My CB550 is my first bike and through the process have been helped on here by many. DTT is a great place and it's the members here that make it what it is. If we all do our part, it will continue to be a great big family!

now all i got to do is figure out if i am going ot ride, drive (and pull trailer), or fly and rent a bike... maybe do some car pool action wiht anyone else heading our there from the midwest chicago area... i took 4 days off to do this trip though... they are just waiting to be assigned dates... unless i am that HD guy? :)

and bring your HD! I want to see it in person, the dude in question was a dumbass not because he rode a HD it is becaue he got up way too early and fired it up, but instead of leaving he sat with the throttle cranked trying to charge his battery while everybody was trying to sleep. Swagger talked some sense into him though :)
