A Kiwi build from scratch

a question for one and all. I am looking at laced wheels to run in my bike, I have found this nice bit of kit from Cognimoto,

http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0281/8612/products/DSCF2019_grande.JPG?v=1400297808

so thats the front sorted, but am hard pushed to find something for the rear to suit the GSXR set up, any thoughts out there?? As much as I want to make as much of my bike as I can, I think this maybe pushing it

look at the flat track stuff like a barnes knock off spool they were strong 40 spoke and were designed to carry adapters off each side
endless posabilitoes and you can even put the big axle bearings outbourd in the adapters
google barnes wheel knockoff hubs and also there is an outfit doing close repops with a nice online cat a log
the swingarm lashup looks great marvelous work
lots of dirtrack racing down under i would bet they have a supplier or mfg in rooland
or super moto motard that's it

thanks XB, had a look for those hubs, and found some cush drive ones also. still around the $500 for a bear hub. RAD do a beautiful CNC hub to suit a Suzuki V-Storm but not shore of axle size, and they haven't been too forth coming about dimensions from emails I have sent. it does look like the wheels are going to be costing me around $2500 for a set by the time I get them here and start lacing them up

Look for Ducati GT1000 Spoked Wheels making spacers and axles is better money spent.

I would believe these would be like rocking horse shit to find surely???

you might try a popular ducati forum, join in and place a wtb ad.
the swingarm pivot mount coming along nicely
where it bolts to the rear is that a machined surface on the rear of gearbox with known paralellabilitation to the out put c/st
sure would be nice if so cause after all the welding the pivot box sub assembvly dealy could be set up in the mill with the pivot shaft dialed in zero to axis for a final trueage skim cut on the mating surface ;)
when then bolted up thge rear wheel it done for tracking that is it is paralell and then it can acts like part of alinement jig for further fab location like the neck tube

I find it best to G-search images and click away at them until i find what i need, this is the very first image result when searching. I'm certain there are others

I would think you could use a 17" x 5" supermoto rear wheel. Just have to get some specs for a wheel that would fit say a KTM and see how it would work out with your swing arm. Probably just some spacers and different size bearings or maybe a modified axle. Those wheels can be picked up pretty reasonably priced.

these are the ducks nuts!! I looked at these a few months ago, they priced up around $3200 EURO. a bit out of my price range but would look damn fine on my scooter when finished

IMO, spokes on a sport bike no longer should have a bend at the nipple, modern machine parts have made it so things can be precise for a price.

i want to run a 5.5, would love a 6" but dont think anyone makes one that big

5.5 is it for hoops but a 190 will work for street, the radius is only really minimally affected... A Michelin PS 185 is so close I would run those it has a fat chicken strip

You can get 5.5 supermoto wheels too. Personally I would buy some RAD hubs and Excel rims and lace up my own, you can use whatever width rim you want then!

you can get them bigger than 5.5..wish i could remember the name of the place i saw..you can get them HUGE...mostly aimed towards harley guys but a wheel is a wheel right..

http://www.hdwheels.com/40-60_spoke.htm here it is... up to 17x6.25

cheers mate, might be another avenue. LIKE the matt finish, just not to sure how the front rim would lace to the Cognitomoto front rim, but the back is spot on!

RAD hubs I have looked into, but as said they were a little less forth coming in giving me the info. it is really the rear hub I need to sort out, and RAD do one for the V-Storm, but I think the axle shaft size might be a hold up. dont want to throw $800 at a hub to find out I need to machine the hell out of it

I wouldnt mind running a 200 rear, purely for aesthetics. but the 190 rear off the Gixxer is what I will more than likely run, a 5.5" will work fine with that

Too bad RAD aren't cooperating with info :( Really, buying a supermoto 17 x 5.5 wheel would be your cheapest option then make your own axle, spacers etc.
