So.. It just struck my brain... Honda REALLY MISSED THE BOAT HERE! In 2002 the had Jesse James build them a Cafe bike with the VTX 1800 motor... WHY DIDN'T THEY CALL HIM WITH AN INLINE DOHC MOTOR??? OR JUST BUILD A PRODUCTION RUN OF THESE!
At least Honda is trying to listen to the motorcycle cultures. The Fury gives people who want a chopper an affordable option, the DN-01 automatic will get more people into motorcycles and they saw what cafe racers liked and came up with a new platform for customizing. It does need clip-ons or at least clubmans and rearset but I understand why they didn't put them on. The market would be severely narrowed by those parts. They are watching the market and the more people they can get attracted to it then the more they sell.
I agree with spacejunk and the red paint... I also think the rear swing arm is a bit "devilish" but I do like how it feels more like a modern cafe bike... rather than a brit bike re-released (ie the Thruxton,) Honda shoulda taken some notes from the Duc Sport Classic.
I saw something about a cafe inspired Buell. Here ya go. I want 1 in each color of the rainbow without the fairing please. I'm also bias because I love Buell's designs.
Okay, I like this bike a bit more. Just realized it's not liquid-cooled, but has a small oil-cooler. Woohoo, no radiator! Now that's a gutsy move on Honda's part to put out a motor like that. Now if it only comes with carbs and a possibility to install a kickstart…
triumph did something cool with their new twin retro models, the fuel injector is built into a housing that looks like the old amal carbs, so you get the dead on tuning of an efi system and the look of old...
That gives me hope that the future of motorcycling will include real motorcycles instead of plasticlad lookalike repliracers and fat non cornering cruisers.

I'm curious about the frame-without a horizontal back bone, you might be stuck with that seat and tank (I don't like the tank). If Honda was really smart, they would figure out what we already have-the more basic the frame/motor, the more easily modified the rest of the bike is for the rider. Create the motorcycle version of the Small Block Chevy 350 (from a hot rodders perspective ;D).But the frame and engine have to be strong and basic - a bike shouldn't be built around bolt-on parts.
