A Peek at the CB1100 and Cafe concept

So.. It just struck my brain... Honda REALLY MISSED THE BOAT HERE! In 2002 the had Jesse James build them a Cafe bike with the VTX 1800 motor... WHY DIDN'T THEY CALL HIM WITH AN INLINE DOHC MOTOR??? OR JUST BUILD A PRODUCTION RUN OF THESE!

that rear break is insanely cool...

as for the cb1100, I like it but for it to do well it will need to be priced considerably lower than the duc..

At least Honda is trying to listen to the motorcycle cultures. The Fury gives people who want a chopper an affordable option, the DN-01 automatic will get more people into motorcycles and they saw what cafe racers liked and came up with a new platform for customizing. It does need clip-ons or at least clubmans and rearset but I understand why they didn't put them on. The market would be severely narrowed by those parts. They are watching the market and the more people they can get attracted to it then the more they sell.

ol'jesse must of had way to much red paint sitting on the shelf. he kinda went overboard with it.

I agree with spacejunk and the red paint... I also think the rear swing arm is a bit "devilish" but I do like how it feels more like a modern cafe bike... rather than a brit bike re-released (ie the Thruxton,) Honda shoulda taken some notes from the Duc Sport Classic.

i think perhaps a buell could be converted to a nice cafe racer and i feel that honda's days are over with the end of the cb series in cafe bikes

I saw something about a cafe inspired Buell. Here ya go. I want 1 in each color of the rainbow without the fairing please. I'm also bias because I love Buell's designs.

Okay, I like this bike a bit more. Just realized it's not liquid-cooled, but has a small oil-cooler. Woohoo, no radiator! Now that's a gutsy move on Honda's part to put out a motor like that. Now if it only comes with carbs and a possibility to install a kickstart…

triumph did something cool with their new twin retro models, the fuel injector is built into a housing that looks like the old amal carbs, so you get the dead on tuning of an efi system and the look of old...

the fuel injection disguised as carbs sounds really cool! And ya Id probably be interested in a smaller cc version myself.

That gives me hope that the future of motorcycling will include real motorcycles instead of plasticlad lookalike repliracers and fat non cornering cruisers.

the reason they are going out of business!

because the makers that listen to what people want are doing good.

You can't get anymore throwback than this bike. A non-watercooled inline four in this day and age is downright prehistoric. I want a test ride.

I like this version: http://world.honda.com/news/2007/2070920Motorcycle-Exhibition-Tokyo-Motor-Show-2007/photo/pages/07.html ;D

I'm curious about the frame-without a horizontal back bone, you might be stuck with that seat and tank (I don't like the tank). If Honda was really smart, they would figure out what we already have-the more basic the frame/motor, the more easily modified the rest of the bike is for the rider. Create the motorcycle version of the Small Block Chevy 350 (from a hot rodders perspective ;D).But the frame and engine have to be strong and basic - a bike shouldn't be built around bolt-on parts.

Maybe the next model will be a 550 four with a older CB tank ::)
If this model sells well, surely there will be more.
