That was when I had a muffler on that side.... I scraped a little gravel on that right side coming out of a rut while leaving Kiley's... I'm assuming that did something disruptive plus vibration from the trip back to camp (not to mention the vibration from the 720 miles in the back of the van) did in the bolt holding the back of the muffler up... Pretty sure it's somewhere on 20 between Kiley's exit and the Barber exit. Either that or in someone's bumper.
But.... The good news is, I called (The Airhead Legend) Perry Bushong in Ft Worth about what I should do, and he was like... Bring the bike out to the shop.. We'll build you a sweet exhaust and I'll tune your carbs up and iron out any flat spots in your RPM range. You never turn down a master's invite. So I'm kinda glad it happened now.
Yeah.. I've had that nut come loose before.. (You'd think I'd invest in some Locktite).. I can usually tell when it's loose by the sound. With all the hustle and bustle it just slipped my mind to give it a good wrenching. Once that vibration sets in.. game over. Just can't believe it came completely off the clamp that holds it on the header.
Dude..Matt, you have to keep the color scheme! When you pulled up on Friday to the swap tent, I knew it had to be you. The way the colors pop and change in the light is awesome! It's different and it the words of my good friend Justin Longhorn....Yes sir, I can dig it!
agreed 100% that color has to stay! i laugh at how you and mysta2 came up with it, but hell 1/2 of my best builds things have happened on accident... the color on my HD came about because i used the wrong base and said screw it lets see what happens!
just went through your build start to finish---two words for it---FUCK YEAH !!! also glad to hear someone else has the blue obsession and the little bit of wee problem lol when this blue came out of the rattle can i did a little shimmey and of course a little wee ;D ,look forward to your next venture
Wow that came out sick. I can't believe that's the same bike that use to come up here all the time making a hell of a racket on the eyes and ears beautiful.
Thanks Rocko.. That is a pretty blue... I certainly have a few options in regards to my "next venture".. all up my wife and I have 7 bikes sitting in the garage... I have so many things I want to do... lol.. But I figure if no other gems fall in my lap I have my next 5 years of wrenching laid out. I've basically disallowed myself from going to craigslist.
BicycleBobe:
I'll probably have her down at Perry's in Ft Worth here soon. Just trying to find a free minute to haul it down there. He's going to do some carb work for me to make it all nice and tasty. I'll post up when I do, I'd love to meet up and see your Beemer.
So Crescent was complaining that I didn't have any recent photos.. I told him I was waiting to put my new exhaust on... but I went ahead and grabbed my camera and took some photos.. at night... I'll take some daytime photos tomorrow.
