Amen Savior CB750 (AKA Melissa)

Ok so I ran outa wrap (waiting on more from those crazy yuks at Dime City) so I started working on the kickstand mount, needs to be taken care of before I permanently mount the pipes on the lefts side of the bike. it needed to be bent back down to give me clearance for the stand bolt so the head doesn't rub on the under side if the inside pipe.

went from this

To this

Also came up with a rear hanger idea not the most eye pleasing but I wast sure what else to do. Yes im going to cut off the extra length of bolt
and I may even do away with the nuts and lock washers towards the inside of the clamps and put a sleeve in there to hide the threads.

nice work wrapping the pipes ! why not just weld the pipes together and eliminate the outside clamp ?
it sure would look more clean and be just as sturdy
you could use a piece of 14 gauge or so maybe 1-1/4" x 3" long scallopped on the ends and ventilated with some holes to tie them together top and bottom, layed in there

I'm back! Finally! Its been a slow go on the bikes over the last year and a half or so...
In a nutshell I've met the most amazing woman in the world, I've moved to a different location got a garage with both bikes in it now
so hopefully I can get back on my build. Just got the Amen to the new place last weekend. cleaned the cobwebs off and started trying to remember where I left off

This is what she looked like when I stopped....

And Ive decided to start over! To many things I was just trying to let slide cause I wanted to hurry up and ride. Im going to slow down and address the things I need too.

HMMMM I see bent things!

And cut things! Some ass took a torch to the lower springs!!

Found a spring manufacturer to replicate my lower springs.

Went ahead and tore her all the way down.

I have managed to find another frame with plungers already rebuilt. Im going to swap all my stuff into that frame for now, then later Ill take my current bent up frame to my frame guy and have him jig it up and work out the kinks. And then Ill have another frame for a later build!!

Well my second frame showed up !!! The straight on is on the left.

So I did a set of taper bearings.

And started on leaky gaskets while the motor was on the floor.

Set the motor in its new home, the frame is a much better motor stand than the floor.

Started pulling covers off for paint.

And to deal with annoying things like this broken bolt in my field coil, stuff that would aggravate me if I just left it.

All will go back together with new stainless.

Depends on how tolerant your wife is....

Haha, I like the response. Does it affect the taste of the turkey you cooked in it after? I was thinking about getting a toaster oven to bake the parts in but the oven would be easier

Shockingly my gal didn't even notice any smell in the house when she came home from work. After I got done I ran the oven up too 500 degrees for about 10 min and had all the windows open. 8)

Bold move, good thing you didn't end up on the couch that night. What kind of powder coating kit do you have?

Powder coat? LOL I haven't reached that level of cool yet, im still rattle canning stuff. Its just VHT engine paint. Suppose to bake it @ 200 degrees for an hour.

haha the trace quantities of highly toxic/carcinegenic chemicals that get in your food now shouldn't be a problem

Gotcha, the paint looked so good i thought it was powder/ceramic coated

Ill take that as a compliment!!! All Ive ever done is rattle can paint jobs, So Ive learned how to make it look good over the years. One day Maybe ill get a spray gun at least, and start fucking up paint jobs again. lol

You are lucky!
I got busted the NEXT time she fired up the oven and the smell came back even though I had scrubbed the ever-lovin shit out of it...

Paint looks good, but the is it safe question all depends on the type of paint you are baking, I believe the VHT says right on the can the "odors that bake off are harmless" but other paints can off gas stuff that can hurt you. So read the can and if it doesn't say, bake it outside the house in something like a BBQ or homemade oven. Or toaster oven just for parts. You can get a pretty large toaster oven at a trift store pretty cheap.
