If you are looking for some pipes for that GT250, check with Jemco. He has the specs for the factory road race pipes for that motor.

I think I looked into jemco a while back. A little more scratch than I can muster at this time. Thanks though.... could be a someday thing =)

Got the side fins polished on my head.... not a fan of the process, but I think the results look pretty good. Might pick up a buffing wheels and get it the rest of the way to "mirror" finish.

the chambers you have look damn close to those Jemco chunks, just need to sand em out to bare and maybe some brazing for the head pipe and find a set of old steel silencers if you want the natural finish or a set of 80cc shorties from FMF debadged would be sweet.

Oh and that tank is wrong with those top mount barz on that ricer in the pic

I think they were for an rd250/350, which some have told me are tuned pretty close to the needs of a gt250...

These are a spittin' image of the DG chambers. I've had guys tell me the DG's are perfect for the GT380 too.

Mhmm. 380 uses the same bore and stroke per hole as the 250 as I understand. The triples always sound better IMHO though..

Yeah, the welds on them don't look like home made or even small run jobbies. I am pretty sure they are something that there were a few of. I think they will get blasted and just some high temp black paint on em. Probably just straight singers for now until then get so annoying I can't stand them, then silencers will get welded on =)

Hmmm. True. Idk what logo though

You got graphics arts people at the school? Ask 'em to come up w/ some kind of fancy "LRS" logo (L*** R****** Special) Or maybe LRD for L*** R***** Designs... whatever, don't mind me, long day.

Ifyou are referring to the bike in the pic I posted, look a bit closer. Those are tommaselli clip-ons. They are slid all the way up so to allow much more turning radius when maneuvering the bike around the shop. Gives more clearance before hitting the tank . That and it gives a bit more upright riding position for my 60+ y/o decrepit back.

I wondered if that's why they are like that. Very nice bike you have there. What year? I assume 73 to 75 as it still has the ram air heads on it. whats that suspension from?

Good thing it's not the first time I was wrong about something... Those tommaselli's come in 52mm?

Actually, its a rather unusual model for the US. It's a 1972 GT250, JDM model. They weren't exported until '73. Significant changes between those years, most notable was that the '72 had like a 5" longer wheelbase. The wheels and the complete front end are from an '87 Yamaha SRX250.

Yup, all the way up to a 54mm. http://guzzino.com/toadcl.html

Nice price for a solid riser clip on... not real fancy modern looking but forged is way better than extruded mounting parts.

Hmm yep, never would have guessed that it was a 72 for that very reason. I have done a good little bit of research on these bikes since starting this project. Very nice bike man. Did you have any issues finding parts from it being an unusual year??

Yep, and if done right, forged is often stronger than even a billet chunk.

When we got it, it was a bastardized mess with parts from various years on it. By the time we were done, there wasn't much original left of it . The frame and engine is all thats left of the '72. Engine same as later GT250, so no real big problems there. Added those frame stiffeners that you see just in front of the oil tank, otherwise its basically a stock frame.

Mustve been a gt250 thing. Mine was somewhat bastardized even before I extended the bastardization by swapping it to a 75 frame ( for title reasons ). My frame and engine were 76, but little things like the side covers are 77 only and the swing arm is pre 75.. idk what all else is wrong, but that's why this will never be a "concourse restoration", but a clean, respectable rider that I am trying to keep (mostly) stock

Got some more polishing done on the side cover/clutch case. 350 grit incremented to 1000 grit then polishing compound, all by hand.
