And then there were two.. 1976 GT250 Rebuild

Haha still a ways a way from BOTM territory =p hasn't gone down the road yet lol

I'm kinda to the point of the project where alot of unnoticeable work is happening. Still plugging away little by little. I did buy a lift after selling the Harley. Should have done it sooner...

After getting it running, I realized that I wasn't getting oil through the injection lines, probably due to not thoroughly purging them. Upon inspection, I realized that the check valves were stuck and allowing crank pressure to back feed air into the lines, along with the original plastic banjo washers not sealing right.

Did a little research and found a guy who used a harbor freight oil can with alcohol to flush the lines abs get the gunk out of the check valves. After some thorough flushing, the check valves were back in order, and I then purged the lines out with another pump can of 2 smoke oil.

I then replaced the plastic washers with stat-o-seal banjo fitting washers which are a common upgrade from plastic or copper.

I've been around 2 strokes enough to know that oil systems aren't something to cut corners on. One small step closer to having a reliable (as a two stroke can be) rider

the lift is an awesome edition to any shop i have some sliding/telescoping extensions underneath the tail of my lift and use the ramp as a table extension
as long as you have a bike up there it dont tip over too bad with an engine on it
i have had it on the balance point though, thankfully without crashing

still more slow progress. im dang close to having this on the road. Did a few more odds and ends last night and was planning on running the engine through a few real heat cycles before taking it down the road. went to start it, but when I turned the key on, I had nothing. no dummy lights, no brake lights, no spark... nada. so, ive got a gremlin hiding out in the wiring somewhere... oh well

I know you know what you're doing. It commits suicide by design. Don't say I didn't warn you

Well, here is where you can all laugh at the idiot. I spent several hours with an electric meter trying to track down why I wasn't getting any juice. I got frustrated and came in and sat down on the couch when all of the sudden I had an apifiny.. I never.... through all my trouble shooting..... checked the fuse.... the only fuse on the bike..... spoiler alert, it was blown. It was probably the original one too, as the spare was still on the pouch on the wire.

I felt like I should just go back to kindergarten and try this whole learning thing over again. Anyhow, with that squared away, I put er together and ran it through a few heat cycles. Good possibility of a maiden voyage tomorrow, or at least some time this week. Oil pump seems to be working great.

That's great man :) You going for a ride tomorrow ?

Don't feel so bad. Had issue with the ignition of the 7fitty. Went through the entire circuit, even rewired some stuff, then went through the Dynatek troubleshooting directions. All test suggested bad Dyna, so I forked out $130 for a new unit. Got it in the mail, installed it and nothing changed. I forget to check the secondary windings on the coils. I did check the primary. Secondary is bad. So I had to fork out for a new set of coils. All that troubleshooting, internet searching and frustration and I forget to check the secondary windings on the coil. .... STUPID.
