Another kick at a rebuild

Canuck Plumber

Badges? We don't need no stinking badges!
My Dad and I rebuilt a CB400T (79) year before last. I've decided (actually the bike decided for me when the shift fork became bent), to rebuild it ground up again. I'm thinking a bit more radical this time around though and was thinking of breaking away from the traditional "black frame-silver tank" scheme. Any thoughts anyone? Anyone seen custom colored cafe bikes? Perhaps the act of painting the bike something not so traditional means its not a cafe. I'm hoping for some input.

Greasy Peace.

Naw, don't worry about it not being called cafe.
Besides, as long as your paint has a stripe on it it's still a cafe paint job. :D

There'll still be a place for it on this site - even if you have to move it over to the streetfighter section!

So sweet... Damn.. I was thinking of copper too.. Powder coat? What year? Looks like a Norton Frame?

Mysta - I havent reviewed your thread over at TMW for a while - so this is the first time I saw the fairing... Man that looks amazing, Hope you can get that made up no problem.

Oh I have no doubt there will be a ton of problems, but I'm pretty psyched about it. I'm trying to get through Loudbike first before I really jump into 69.

thanks

Im curious about the battery you used. Its alot smaller than I thought you needed. Is that a NiMH battery? Great page for resource material. Hope you dont mind if I use some of your ideas.

I stripped it down tonight. Off to get blasted tomorrow. Heres some pics.

Naked and ugly.

I'll need to get a cover for the main switch so it doesn't get filled with grime

everyone always asks me about the Bat-Pac it did not work for me the bike died instead of idleing, this is the one I'll be using for now:

Cool pic... I'm going to try either a drycell or gel battery. These can be placed on their side and come in smaller configs. Thanx for the advice.

Does any1 know if the two into one header from a 360 will fit on a 450 engine? If so.. how much modification?

I need to braze in a dent on my tank before sending it out for PC. The rims have been PC black and have a small copper pin stripe on the rim walls. No pics yet (getting new rubber and bearings)

Now where did I leave my Visa.

Man im really digging the use of copper! I know it wasnt something they used, but for some reason it really throws some extra vintageness in there. VERY slick!

Thanks. I'm doing the same to the carbs. (at least the parts I can get away with anyway). I'll post pics as soon as they are finished.

Thanks everyone. Should be interesting once its complete. I'm having some issues as to what I should do with the seat portion of the frame. Thinking I might lob it off and start fresh.

Heres a pic of the sandblasted tank and frame. Soon to be sent off for SB and PC.
