Ordered some 1.9 inch diameter speedo/tach gauges. I think I'll hide them and keep the triple tree clear. Any ideas as to where to put them? I was thinking of putting them on the engine. I've seen it done on a few chopper mods. Looks kind of cool.

Beautiful! Good feeling when you start to finally see it start to resemble a bike again isn't it. That's the point I'm at now, instead of seeing a bunch of parts you start to see a completed bike. Gets the juices going to finish it off and get it on the road.
i really like the paint scheme... the seat is very unique as well. i keep forgetting most of you are still dealing with snow (im sorry), we havnt seen snow here since 1991?!
Engine is in and triple trees' are done. Thanks everyone. Still have a long way to go. I have to refab a seat and do a little rewiring of the electrical.
now that is a bike. nice to see some originality. that looks crazy. is that the stock mounting placement for the tank? is there a battery anywhere? you are going to replace the turn signals right. small black ones that disappear. nice work
Thanks. The tank is actually off of a CB500(74 I think), but the tank fits (a bit snug) over the 400T frame if you trim the tank pegs by about a half inch on both sides. As for the signals. Not sure. I'll probably run with them for now till I figure out what I'm going to do. I haven't seen anything I really like. I'll mount the exhaust next weekend. I kept it pretty much stock. I re-chromed the exhaust pipes and PC'd the exhaust balancer. ($$$$$$$!!!!!)
Hey. Found a few pics of making the seat. I used a combination of welding and brazing. I took the original seat pan and welded a piece from a 360 tank. I also had to trim the pan to slim it up a bit and give it that lift at the back. I am going to have to make another seat as this will not be large enough to store the battery. I did buy a smaller gel battery to use instead of the stock dry cell. Gel Batteries are great for their ability to be laid on their side in stead of having to stand them upright.
Bike is looking great! Just FYI - I'm pretty sure the headlight ears are on upside down. If you invert them the angle of the arm off the fork tubes is much more perpindicular vs. the angle you have now. Totally a matter of preference - I like them the other way.
Thanks Tintin. The tank I bought was just that. A tank. I wasn't sure what it came from and I never thought to ask the guys at TJs. As for the headlight holder, thanks again. In the heat of getting it together for the pic I didn't notice that either. Lol. Taking the bike apart...easy. Putting it all back together... Not so much.
Coolatula.. Thanks Mate. I didn't want to end up with the bike looking like it did before. All cluttered up with stuff.
HerrDeacon, thanks again. Wait till I get the copper parts on.
