Any cyclists out there? Mountain, Road, Cross, etc.?

Personally, I'm a hard core bike nerd and ride/race (mostly ride since kids came along) all types but Mountain bike for the most part.

My latest bike (none engined) is my Surly Pugsley. I was eying them up for quite a while and then my wife decided to surprise me with one 75% complete. She knew I had a bunch of spare parts in the basement the finish it off so...... Holy shit that was cool of her.

I roll this thing a ton now. After running it single speed for a while, I decided to toss on an Alfine 8 just to liven it up a bit. It's a riot.

Here's a pic after I swapped out to an Alfine and threw on some drop bars.

Out and about.....

If any other bike nerds are out there and interested. I linked my blog at the bottom if you want to see some of my other gear, profiles I've made of some nice stuff out there in the world owned, raced, enjoyed by other folks out there (God there is some nice stuff) and some videos I made over the years. The videos aren't great, but, they're OK.

POST YOUUR STUFF TOO if you're so inclined. There HAS to be some 2 wheel nerds around this site. I can't be the only one...

Most epic outing for me thus far was summiting Mount Olympus in Cyprus in 2010. Unreal outing. Best day out of my like I think.

Snapped a self portrait during one of my outings on the Pugs. Took several attempts but I think the pic turned out cool :) I really dig the fat bikes. Rode all winter long on those beasts.

This thread has been done before but I don't think I played. So I am biting this time around.
I am also a big cyclist and own several bikes.
Ones not pictured are Red Line Monocog, Spooky Cycles Metal Head with 14 speed Rohloff hub, Merlin Fat Ti which has CannonDale headshock, Rocky Mountain Route 66 (mostly for pulling my son in a bike trailer). There you have it. My bikes are worth more than all my motorcycles and cars combined.

This is my IF Ti Deluxe MTB. Best Hard Tail I have ever ridden or Owned.

This is my Serotta Meivici with Campy Record and Lighweight Standard Wheels.

I ride/race road bikes. Never fall short on the Deer Creek Challenge (hardest 100miler in america) every year.

My all carbon (no magnesium joints here) Klein Q-Elite daily rider on my regular trail (Westminster to South Denver, 45 mile trip) Yeah, those are standard pedals...This one gets ridden in jeans and tennis shoes, Shitty Wellgo matched up to all Dura-Ace

Sweet! Nice rides guys! Keep them coming!

Didn't know it had been done, I actually looked first, but didn't find anything. Oh well.

Since Gsalter posted several of his, I may as well post some more of mine.

On top of the Pugsley above, here's my Bianchi L'una.

My Salsa El Santo (now for sale)

My old (and BEST) bike I've EVER owned in my entire life, Dekerf Team ST (the full 853 version). I will never sell this bike unless my kids are on the verge of starvation. Raced it for a full 8 seasons. It is so freaking awesome. The only reason I am not still on it is because Chris (the builder) could/would not add disc tabs to the ST. Too much strain. Long story short - "snap" if he did. I still ride it now and again and it is still the funnest bike ever IMO. It is the bike that converted my into a steel freak.

My Niner MCR9.

Here's a little time laps video I did for fun during my Niner build. I'm thinking of doing the same for some of my Honda projects :)

Holy shit. Some awesome bikes in this thread!

I was a downhill/"freerider" kinda guy for a long time. Since I moved out of California (sniff) and started traveling, I've been riding my first-gen Evil Sovereign, which is kind of the Swiss army knife of hardtails. Run it rigid, suspended, geared, singlespeed, etc. Nice to be able to fit conditions.

Where I'm living now has little to no bicycling opportunities (hence my foray into motos), so I'll post a shot from when I was living in Africa and had awesome hills and mountains just out my door...could hit a ride before work with the boss a couple of times a week, even.

(This kid grabbed my bike and carried it across a ravine, so I let him have a spin...it's the Sovereign with a Salsa rigid fork and singlespeed set up.)

Used to have a pretty awesome Turner RFX, last of the straight-tube models. Avalanche shock, Manitou Dorado singlecrown and/or Slider up front. What a ride. Still have a later-gen butted frame in my storage back in the US.

When I'm back someplace with chairlift or good shuttle opportunities, I may just have to get an older Turner DHR with Avalanche stuff front and rear and let it rip again. I'm older now but I think skill and wisdom can help make up for reduced strength and balls...

New2meCB, I want that Surly. Love it man.

I'm a certified bicycle (not Motor) cop. I rarely get to ride on duty but the training was insanely cool. I have been wanting to get a decent personal bike, but didn't know where to start. I'm not a road guy, but I also don't want a compound bow inspired mono shock chain store mountain bike. That Pugsley is spot on what I pictured for my dream ride. Thank you sir.

Awesome! Thanks for the kind words!

I absolutely can't believe how much fun this bike has been. I pretty well dropped all other rides once I put it together. It really is a riot and can do anything you want.

Wish I had a job as a bike cop. That would be very cool.

As a side........here's a little video I did while out on a mellow solo ride with it a while back. Just to get you stoked a bit more and get you out on one ;)

I was running it single speed at the time. Such a fun bike on beaches and/or in snow as well.

Just keeps going. If interested, just click the link I guess. I have NO idea how to embed vids on this site. Crazy....

P.S. It was freaking FREEZING that day. Hence the 14 layers of bike gear......... LOL

Great vid. Certainly did the trick. Maybe I can get the department to buy me a Pug, sell it as an all terrain substitute for the Smith and Wesson tank that I ride now. Hmmmm...

Heres a few I've built/ ridden over the last few years. Have a car but still prefer to be on two wheels than 4. Riding bikes is what got me into cafe racers and motorcycles haha

I have a cross bike that i ride almost everyday during the summer and everyday during the school year, its got a set of road tires on it and a brooks saddle (that thing is heaven when it take the shape of your ass). I dont race but one of my best friends is a road/cross racer.

My buddy with the blue bike and I used to run in races all the time.

Beating a roadie on a custom built fixed gear is an amazing feeling.

The white bike is a hydro-formed aluminum frame, 50mm double walled aluminum wheels, and I up'd the gear ratio to 52/15. Could cruise at 30~35 all day at cadence 8)

If i didint poor my money and my soul into my honda , i would buy a fixie for the fun factor , plus my roadie friend busted his ass when he lifted off the pedals at 15mph

Here is a video of me doing a descent in Majorca, Spain. I exceeded 55mph on this mtn. Not my fastest on the road bike. I once reached mid 60's in the French Alps. That was fing crazy and fun.

Cool! Never actually hit 60mph before but I've been up over 50 on the road bike. It's fast! The bikes certainly handle differently at those speeds.

I'd like to embed a video (of a different ilk) but I can't embed sh!t on this site. What are you doing to have it come up? It does not support regular HTML code and, despite what someone said, posting the actual address in the post doesn't do it either.

What gives?

EDIT: I guess it's only good for Youtube vids? My Vimeo ones don't work.

Here IS one you'll appreciate though. Worst descender I've ever seen but makes a HUGE save only to be shot down by a blown sidewall. Listen for the "POP".

In his defence, once on carbon, there is no one able to stay upright.

p.s. Try not to laugh - I dare you. ;D

Sa Calobra? Not the fastest downhill, but not too bad. I've only ridden that twice as I used to hate doing the same road twice on one ride. Most insane downhill I've ever done on a road bike was the downhill on A-7000 from Colmenar to Malaga following some pros who got dropped on that climb during Vuelta Andalucia few (too many) years ago.

So a cyclist here as well. Cervelo S2/DA7900/SRM, Cannondale Carbon Flash 3 29'er (pretty much stock), Redline Conquest Team with leftover parts for cross, and few other bikes. I sold bunch of my bikes last year to make room in the basement, but it didn't make that huge dent.

Used to do cycling kind of full time for 3-5 years before I had to graduate and become an adult. I do still race road, MTB and 'cross, but haven't really trained since moving here in 2006.

Just an updated pic of the Pugs added some Marge Lite rims. Still loving this ride a lot. So much fun.

Since we're posting vids too, here's an older quick one I did with a buddy of mine a while back (I'm the guy in the striped are warmers 8)).

Riding a Puglsey as an all-around bike must take legs like tree trunks and the pain tolerance of a rhino.

Glad you're diggin' it...I had a Surly Instigator that I set up with 24" rims and rode with 3.0 IRC something-or-other DH tires on it, and a Jr. T dual-crown fork up front. It was a good time, all told, but these days I don't have the need for rubber like that, nor its rolling resistance...

I don't get you guys hahah
They all look the same to me!
And they don't have motors. Wtf?
