"Bush League" 1966 HONDA 305 DREAM *Kiki*

Re: Hi-RES picture update "Bush League" 1966 HONDA 305 DREAM *Kiki*

After taking the engine casing off and fixing a clutch issue (so easy to write that, so much effort put it) I managed to muster up some excitement to mount and wire my brake light... Check it out (pics).

Re: Hi-RES picture update "Bush League" 1966 HONDA 305 DREAM *Kiki*

Other than moving things around, what is different on the wiring? All/most of the usual bits are there so use a stock wiring diagram and leave out the bits you are not using.

You may need a new loom, but the diagram of what connects to what doesn't change much. Even if you use different switches, the connections are basically unchanged. What are you thinking of doing with teh headlamp switch? On a stock bike it cuts in extra coils at the alternator, so that function is still needed unless you are using a new solid state rectifier and voltage regulator.

Re: Hi-RES picture update "Bush League" 1966 HONDA 305 DREAM *Kiki*

There is no ignition on this bike, no key, so everthing had to be wired to a single fused contact point...
The ignition connection had to be run to a starter button relayed off a master kill switch (2 contact positions).
updated the rectifier with a modern one, electronic ignition instead of a points breaker... you name it, its done. It really goes beyond just a rectifier upgrade.
Thats why it was so complicated, very little of it was reflected in the latest post on electricals I made.

I will post pics of 'the birds nest' inside the bike for you to take a peak at!

Re: "Bush League" 1966 HONDA 305 DREAM *Kiki* (Heavy Picture Update)

So with the help of a few good friends we moved the bike from my house to the underground parking it will stay in over the winter... We managed to get it to fire and run for about 30 seconds... but the carb was spewing gas and the timing was really off - Work still needs to be done to tune the bike back to running condition. Check out the pics that RustyOlive took:

Thanks Jay!
It was a COMPLETE crap shoot - I literally picked the colour on a whim. Its Oriental Blue Candy but i was originally going to go with a light orange/brown root beer candy...
Im really happy with the way it turned out.

Slice this thing is super effin cool man, I really love it! I can honestly say that it is the best Dream I have ever scene by far! You really did a number on it and you hit the jackpot with the design....great job!

Re: PICTURE UPDATE - "Bush League" 1966 HONDA 305 DREAM *Kiki*

Thanks Twist!

Its nice to know that people appreciate the amount of thought that went into it.
I really wanted to make something very different that I could be proud of and something that would not necessarily be the 'norm' when it came to modified bikes.
I get a lot of slack from the vintage/resto guys but at the same time I get some guys saying that although they were aprehensive at first, they get it now...

I have to say that im not quite out of the woods yet. I have a serious problem I need to solve with my timing and carb. Hopefully I will have sorted all this out (with the help of some friends - RustyOlive & Co.) over the next week and get some final pictures/videos to share with you guys.

Im just happy to say that its my own.

Slice - one set of points and one carb - how hard can it be? Seriously though, what's the issue?

Slice, when this thing is finished you and I will have to trade bikes for a decent ride. Not sure about locales, or the logistics, but this needs to happen.

Hey LongHorn,

Im good with that... Where is a link to your build? I wanna know what Im getting into here! ;)

I would imagine its going to be ready in the next week or so (just depends on how much time I have to sort out the kinks). Im in Toronto, Canada - you?

As for the other comment - One carb, One points (you are correct but this thing is from 1966 and has more qwarks than I can tell you about). I should have it sorted out pretty soon so all this can be put to rest! I will keep you posted.

bike looks amazing!! just a tip, if you need to bump start it, bounce down on the seat hard as you can just as you drop the clutch, will give it more grip on the rear tyre. hopefully you've got it running by now!!
