Cafe' CB200 - Silver Bullet - Up And Running... Now For Mods

sorry guys for the slow updates...

school is back in session! :( - so not much time for the bike or social networking.

supercafe, to answer your question, I used the factory throttle from the 200, I just took a dremel to it and cut from the under piece enough for the wiring to slip through (if that makes sense). still looks clean, i just shaved enough for the wires to barely get past the bars without pinching them too much.

cool man.
so your throttle is like the 175 with the slot in the bars??????
if it is and you have reamed the clubmans, then it should be do able for
my self. if you could do you have any pics of the bars and the slot/holes you've
reamed out?????????
any way what plans are next for it????
i'm pretty close to putting mine back together. i think it looks great, finally got
some pics up on here, my little cd 175 project...
later.

nah, I didn't touch the bars, I cut out a little hole on the actual control... if I had a picture and I wasn't at work I'd show you. Just take a grinder to the actual control and just notch out a little hole, just big enough for the wires to slip by.

You must buy this seat!!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/honda-cb200-cafe-seat-cb-200-cb200t-cb175_W0QQitemZ170303525934QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotorcycles_Parts_Accessories?hash=item170303525934&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A1|39%3A1|240%3A1318

This is the single best looking solo seat I've seen on a 200. The rear of it is stitched to math the ribs on the tank center and it looks so awesome...

He has more pictures of his bike on www.caferacer.net

904cafe.
just got my bars and installed the lever assy, drilled holes in the housing to fit the wires. worked slick. thanks for the input.
need to get my throttle and might get a cb200 like yours and fit it on. so when i do i might have some questions on how
you did yours, still not sure what you mean.
any way thanks.
later.

wow thanks for the heads up on the seat. looks really clean. i contacted the owner as well to ask him about his modifications, haha. i like his rearsets and, well everything. i think he's got my turn signals.

on that note, im prob going to start on the glass seat here soon. as well as strip the fender and figure out how to clean up the back end.

NO!! Don't do that. Your bike looks increadible withthe stock seat. If you must make modifications, just take the cover off and shave the hight down a couple inches. Then take it to a shop to get recovered in leather.

If you really must go with a solo seat, PM me. I'm considering offering a new seat style and you could beta test it for me. PM me if you want a free aluminum seat...and you're not in a hurry to get it.

PM'd Chris!

I would never hack the seat, you should see how flawless it is. I did explain to you my intentions in the PM though, but read it and let me know!

I shaved down my seat like CHris was talking about and it came out really nice! Here is a shot of the tank and seat with a mockup of new emblems to be painted on ( got the emblems from Gahi's post http://dotheton.com/index.php?topic=4911.0) Keep in mind the honkin ass tail light is not there any more

ya I spoke with him through ebay about the seat and his bike, and then told him about the forum... I'm looking forward to seeing what he is doing with his.

Yo Brent, Got any leads on a set of CL pipes? Also, are yours attached to the frame?
NATE

I just lucked out and found a set of pipes off ebay. CL200 are very hard to come by so mine are off a CL175. I don't have them bracketed to anything. They sort of rest on the left engine cover a bit and then I just have a nut/bolt holding them together at the tab on the end.

Hey Brent:

I broke a stud off in the head doing it that way. You should really work to support it in the rear and loosen up the bolts in the head. I've also cracked a set of pipes--twice using that method.

Thanks Chris,
I saw in some of your old post on your side pipes you had these problems, so far mine has been ok but I'll try to figure out something. I would rather be safe than sorry, since these pipes were hard to come by. What method did you use to sturdy them?

PS: Ill get you some measurements here soon, I've been a bit under the weather.

Just use the stock bracket that mounts off the swingarm. If you don't have this, you can easily make it out of some .125" thick 6061 ali. That said, my pipes were the super thin (20ga) pipes. The later pipes used .090" wall. These seem sturdier. I know Mysta2 has never reported problems and he rides his all the time.

I've been thinking about your seat...The ones I plan on making will not work with the hump in the rear of the frame. They all assume the frame has been chopped after the damper mounts. Something to consider.

Well damn! Haha. Not sure if I wanna go that route atleast right now. I'd like to be able to swap between the one seater and the factory when needed. But time still permits, I'm in no real rush to start a seat.

I did however order some Motion Pro cables (clutch, speed & tach). I'm looking for a replacement throttle cable and front brake cable as well, if anyone knows of one that is BLACK. When I'm replacing the cables I'm going to lower my gauges so they sit closer to the headlight and prob lower the front end just a bit, which may require me to replace the headlight brackets with aftermarket ones.

Hey 904, amazingly you can still order the front brake cable for the 200 directly from any Honda dealer!! I know it sounds crazy, but that is where I got mine from and it comes in Black or Gray!!
