it looks purdy,but,17,000 for a poorly designed/engineered bike is insane, just fucking insane :eek: ??? ::) :-[ :-X :-\ :'(

Why are you so rude? The guy puts a lot of thought and engineering work into his designs, and seems to only use expensive materials. Calling it poorly engineered and designed is a bit ludicrous.

If you could point out specifics, that'd be great. I'm certainly no expert

improperly functioning rear brake, no fenders :( cant even ride it through a puddle
weak rear frame, weak upper shock mounts, cheap shocks, cheap air filters that are going to be constantly sand blasted just going down any road, roads are dirty :'(
it does not look like it has anywhere near enuf cornering clearance for any kind of spirited riding ,the pipe is just waiting to get rashed/smashed in right turn.....
it is a pretty show bike.... that is all
...........
even IF all these issues including some of is fox shocks were addressed 17,000 is still incredibly INSANE, i could see asking 5k
c'mon what fucking planet are you from ?

I thought your criticism was a tad harsh, but I couldn't really see the pictures that well without creating a log-in for that site. I ain't giving them my email address just to look at that ad. I get enough of their spam on facebook.

Of course it needs carb work... and wired.

I find it interesting when guys list that much information, on a rare bike worth that kind of dough. Like someone is going to be convinced by reading the description to pull the trigger on a bike they aren't previously familiar with.

Waste of time.....

I thought it was a cool story. I dig that the guy's ideal buyer might actually ride it and that's what the seller wants to see happen.

It's called provenance. In many cases, like this one, much of the value comes from it. Plus, it's how it is proven to be the actual item and not a repro.

I'm not disputing or cAlling this seller into question, as he obviously knows what he has. I guess I was just making a broader observation from many other ads I've seen that do some giant description of a stock (which this bike obviously isn't).

It was wrong of me to group him in with the Wiki copy and pasters.

actually i agree, ted always writes up a overly wordy description though, and many times he gets lost but he is consistent :)
this one was an interesting read though even if overdone

That poor Beemer, so many bikes to chop up and they chose this. :(

They didn't chop up a Beemer. They salvaged the engine from one that was wrecked.

Still, it IS hideous...

But at least he wrote this:

"Attention: Sixty plus year old BMW riding Power Rangers in High Viz Aero-Twit riding suits who just want to call and point out what a sin it is to chop a BMW please don't bother. If I had all the stuff to make it stock again I would say so and I wouldn't be advertising it for so little. Spare me the agony of your pointing out the incredibly obvious no matter how tempted and predisposed you are to do so. Feel free however to continue to pat yourself on the back for being a BMW rider even when everybody knows you're a boring dork with odd hair."
