Hey guys, I know there are posts ad nauseum regarding cam roller tensioners, but I have a question I can't seem to find an answer to.
Pulled my top end on '72 cb350, and the main roller is chewed up, as expected. But, the smaller roller on the "lever" has one small area worn down, but the rest looks good. Is common practice just to replace the large roller near the centerline of the engine, or am I going to need to replace the small one too?
If I need the small one as well, anyone have a source that has reasonable prices? The only one I found had the whole lever assembly attached and was around $100.
Now I know in a perfect world I would replace all of it, and I like doing things thoroughly, but on these bikes, $100 is a pretty good proportion of a build cost, and if it's less than absolutely necessary, I'd like to know if I can skip it.
Also, I guess backing up a step, is the smaller one (closest to camera in picture) the one that is normally replaced? I guess I took it for granted that is was the larger one. If anyone has the proper nomenclature for these pieces, let me know so I avoid further confusion.
Thanks in advance, here's some pics of it:
