Can i get help with this CB360 wiring conundrum?

Been Around the Block
Its very hard to finish a bike project after you've lost interest in it....

So... I went to fire up my 74 CB360 today after having lost interest and having it sit for 2-3 years. I've been powering through to get it finished to ride and most likely sell. I had trouble with the wiring last month and got help with that but now I found a new issue... I read somewhere that some 360's had a different wiring configuration in the starter control assembly having to do with ground vs hot connections. As you can see in this wiring schematic (unknown for which year), the starter button is grounded to make connection and the magical green/red wire is not connected to anything. I've read that that wire was for something on the European models and not used in the US market The 2nd pic is from the same schematic and is of the solenoid where Black is coming of it, which is supposed to be keyed hot. BUT in the next set of pics you can see I have the green/red wire on both the solenoid AND the starter button... the green/red wire from the R hand control is not connected to anything because the schematic I have shows it that way. I must have a different year/market R hand control.

So the question is this.... should the green/red wire off the start button be grounded to green or connected to black... or what? Everything else on this bike is wired to black keyed hot. What's the right answer here?

When you push the start button, the green/red wire gets grounded. This completes the circuit for the solenoid.

On the solenoid, what is connected to the green/red wire?

Per the schematic - Black, keyed hot. at least that's what WAS connected... right now, nothing till I get this sorted.

OK. Hook the black back up to the solenoid.

The green/red out of the starter button can be grounded.

This will work to get the starter motor running, but it does bypass the "safety" equipment. Normally, you'd only be able to use the starter motor with the bike in neutral or the clutch pulled in. In this new setup, you can use the starter motor any time. So be mindful.

Any simple way to get the safety features back, or would it require a different wiring harness or R hand control... or both?

Possible.

Depending on the year of your bike as well as the country in which it was originally sold, the safety equipment may not be present (that's why the green/red wire in your diagram terminates without being connected to anything).

Do you have a clutch switch on the left control? It should have a green and a green/red wire.

ahhhh yea... that makes sense now that I think about it. I do have the option on my L control, I remember now taking the switch out when I repainted it.... but I didn't put it back in and I forgot all about it since its not included on the schematic I'm using....
