CB350 Built by a teen (Weld Now, Grind Later)

Don't rag on the dude. I've been building a bike in conditions similar, and it's taken me about 18 months. 4 years is rough for a build but life can get very weird at times.

Hey Beave,
don't be making excuses for him, he's 'lost the plot' and bike is so far down his list it fell off

As far as I'm concerned, school and having a decent daily are good excuses. I'm in the middle of getting a car on the road that hasn't been driven since '06 because my formerly current daily popped a head gasket and the best way to fix that is swap in a (bigger displacement) later model engine. heh Anyway . . . Yeah. Excuses.

This would have been better as a love story

It still is a better love story than Twilight.

Ragging on Rocan is a passive past time for many members on this site, and for me in person or at least via text. We will continue as we see fit.

This thread is a great lesson for anyone really. The most important factor to any kind of success is the ability to focus. Second to that is recognizing obstacles, creating a means of overcoming those obstacles, and then taking action.

Rocan strikes me as a young dude with a lot of pipe dreams, a passion for things, but an inability to prioritize and focus.

Hopefully he just stops with the car and motorcycle bullshit, finishes an education, and then spends the rest of his life making enough actual money to pay for someone else to build for him the things he's passionate about.

Rocan- Building things yourself just doesn't work, so focus on the education, job, and moneymaking so you can still have the things you love.

Not that I know you or anything. Damnit why am I here?

LOL, 8)
If he would start thinking, (instead of thinking with his dick) this bike would have been finished a long time ago.
He's lucky to have a good friend like you to help out and at least keep one thing on track

You sir make some valid deductions but some awful conclusions.

Rocan does have a lot of dreams. He is learning focus. How else is he supposed to learn except by doing, making mistakes, pulling his britches up and trying again?

Pay someone else to build things? GTFO. I only got involved because he found out I hag a TIG welder. He's done everything else himself, and picked up a lot of skills along the way, including buffing. Heh. He would have done more welding himself had he had the equipment for found the prettier welds he wanted. Sure, you have to pay to get things done you can't do yourself, but doing everything you can is generally better for the build and the pain doing the build.

Crazy-
He's learning. Slowly, but he's learning.

Wasn't trying to rag on the guy, and in my post I had a moment of self-awareness where I realized I don't know Rocan from a hole in the wall.

I was just trying to give some advice to a guy on the internet, which is worth about as much as the paper it's written on...

Everyone just keep working and striving. Good luck.

Yes, Brad. I'll be seeing him soon enough to weld a muffler on his daily.

Thearcticsea-

I understand. I Just happen to like the guy and know that he's working to improve.

Wow this thread is STILL going! This project is like jurassic park sequels... yes, beat for me too :)

Maybe he is in the garage and not the Internet.....

Remember the garage?
The place that is not the web...

You know nothing gets done on the web

i know this from the beginning of the thread but i have to ask, what seat is that? is that from a kawasaki?

I read this whole thread today (Long story) and my favorite part is where our young protagonist names his scooter after his mother because she is sweet and calming about 100 pages after he threatens to bash her head in with a bat.

and to think he started with a perfect stocker and could have been riding this whole time.

It's pretty much failed project now, (as expected)
Even Beave hasn't posted for a long time
It isn't just 'school' it's loss of interest in motorcycles (really)

He had some interesting idea's going on with the body kit so whenever it ends up on craigslist i'm sure someone will buy it.

I probably would, get that body kit figured out, paint it to match the original tins that got taken off and throw some pipes on and ride it until the wheels fall off its pretty much done.

It won't be for sale any time soon, the money and time put into it means David won't see it as failed just 'stalled' plus won't want to admit to failure
As long as his parents don't start complaining it will just sit. May eventually get done but will probably be several years before he starts working on it again
