Cb350 stuck in first

Take the bolt out.....

Pry it off with a couple of larger screw drivers, taking care not to damage the seal in the cover....... If it's split, like the shifter linkage, spread it slightly with a flat screw driver, then pry it off...

Sorry forgot to post about this. I figured it out after I posted my last message. I took off the kickstart arm, connected a one end of a ratchet strap to the holes where the kickstart arm goes in, and the other end to the hitch of my car, just because I happened to be sitting next to it, and pulled the rest of the kickstart linkage off. Worked like charm!

The kickstart is 2 pieces, he connected a strap to the lower section after taking the top pivoting section off

So I took the right cover off re adjusted the shifter linkage and it all was working. I put it all back together and now it is stuck in neutral. It won't let me move the shifter up again just like before. And not it will let me move down, like to go to first, but won't actually do anything. What the hell could be going on?

And what exactly did you adjust in there?

I tightened the screw on the end of the shift drum because it was loose and moved the spring back in place. They were out of place because the nuts that hold some of them on came loose. I took it apart again today and figured out the problem.

One of the 4 pins on the shift drum had broken apart. I didn't notice it before because the end of the pin that slides into the circular plate was still intact, but he rest of it, the part that the shifter actually pushes, had broken. I went and got a new pin, reassembled it all, and it shifts like new now.
While I was taking the clutch out today to get to the shifter again I also solved another problem. I was having trouble adjusting my clutch. Apparently someone before me had put the bar in backwards that goes from the clutch on the right to the clutch lever mechanism on the left.

Two birds one stone! And only $5 total for the fix. I am defiantly a happy camper!
