CB350 Twin Coil / Ignition Upgrade with Rick's Stator (what happened to Pamco)

Been Around the Block
I was out of the country and I purchased a new Pamco Ignition for my CB350 as well as 3 Ohm Dyna coils. Apparently there was an issue with the Pamco Ignition, so my order was cancelled and it is not currently being sold.

I'm looking at the Dyna "S" electronic ignition. So my question is, is it ok to use 3 Ohm coils with it? I also upgraded my stator to one of Rick's high output ones. I also have the upgraded regulator/rectifier combo from Ricks.

Any opinions? Do you think I should put a resistor in the line?

Also, just to triple check. Right now I have the dyna coils hooked up and mounted, still running stock points. I haven't fired it up yet either, but this is how I have it wired:

12v accessory wire = 1 to each of the top ports on the dyna coil marked "+"
I then have the left points wire going to the left coil terminal on the bottom of the coil and the right to the right. That just seems way to simple, but I think it is correct.

Thanks -

Correction to my previous post, I forgot that dyna doesn't make an electronic ignition for the twins. Any other ideas out there? Am I better off to get some 5 ohm coils or do you think the 3 ohm will work without burning through too many sets of points?

Has anyone gotten an update on the Pamco electronic ignitions? I'm also looking at some inline resistors for the coils I have mounted now from Hondaman. I think in the long run for now I might need to add the resistors and run points.

Let me know if you find out about this. I'd like to go electronic on my cb 350 but of course bore-tech isn't selling them anymore.

Is bore-tech not selling them or are they just sold out? I think at $369 I'd just stay with points. It's hard to justify that price when it's over a 3rd of what I paid for my bike! haha I'll let you know if I hear anything.

i have over 10000 miles n my original pamco with mech advancer
but i made the advancer a custom unit with the original honda steel engagement dogs
i turned it down and bored the pamco rotor, with a shrink fit

Any idea why he stopped selling them? I had purchased one a while back, but was refunded. I just shot an email out today. I'd really like to try this system.

I spoke with hondaman yesterday. I'm going to order one of his resistor packs for the 3 ohm coils so that I can run the stock points for now.

Right now I have the coils hooked up and the new stator in, but I can't get it to fire up. I checked and I have a huge spark at the plugs. Is there something I am missing here? I'm thinking the timing might be off, but all I did was swap the stator, so I don't see how it is off. I even attempted a static timing and it appears to be ok. Any ideas?

Yes, I tested them with a light and everything looks right. Dumb question, but will the bike start while on it's stand?

I'm thinking the timing has to be wrong if nothing else. The new Rick's stator doesn't have a timing mark, so I'm kind of just eyeballing it in the same area as the stock stator had a timing mark. I might just replace the points wires with new ones, attempt to retime it, and re-gap the points. Is it ok if I mount the condenser somewhere other than on the coils?

Yeah, I'm taking a break. I'll read some stuff on the forum and get back into it when I can. It's obviously something minor, but I'm not seeing it. Thanks for the input.

PAMCO is still alive! We are doing some extensive field trials for the CB350 and CB360. The initial assumption was that the CB50 and CB360 were virtually identical to the CB450, but not so, so we went back to the drawing board and will have systems for both the 350 and 360 soon, starting with the CB360.

Meanwhile we are still selling the CB450 E-Advancer system.

I appreciate your continued interest.

Hey Pete tying to get in touch with you about my replacement that i sent out a month ago. Can you update me please? I keep trying the 450email but no reply.
